When I was a kid, my family took a trip to visit a friend who lived up in the mountains. The friend had a big friendly dog, yellow and easy-going. When it came time for us to leave, the dog suddenly dashed into the passenger seat well and refused to budge.

The friend explained that people often drove their dogs up the mountains to dump them so they can't find their way home. This dog was apparently one of those cases. He'd been living with the friend for three years, and still, every chance he got, he'd duck into a car, thinking it can take him home.
