Barefoot runners, how imperative is it to wash your feet right after running? by ceramicfiverin BarefootRunning

Heres the advice I've always heard- Keep hydrogen peroxide by the door, and first thing, wipe them down with a cotton ball coated in hydrogen peroxide

Best credit card to build credit card and earn rewards? by uninc4life2010in Frugal

Yes. None whatsoever. It's possible, but I had a decent part time job and a fair amount of income for a student.

Student rewards cards are the best bet.

Not true. At 18 (post card act, maybe 2009/2010), I got a citi forward card with rewards.

Not to my knowledge. But it also helps if one of you dies prematurely, and the other needs credit for whatever reason. I understand where your wife is coming from, but you should consider the worst case scenario and plan for it.

Chase is different every quarter, though it sometimes corresponds to logical breakdowns (gas, hotels and airfare in the summer, home and garden stores in the spring.)

You should each have one separate card, and one combined account if you want to combine finances.

If anything happens in the future, each of your individual credit histories will be preserved.

I can call myself Cameron Diaz, but that doesn't make me the Cameron Diaz

People usually dot get violently ill from angel visitations, Muhammad got violently ill from his.

Christians and Muslims believe in the same God, they just believe different things about that God.

In this case, I believe that Muhammad was visited by demons, not angels, and his visions were not from God. (Based on my knowledge of demonic attacks and his experiences).

Every religion claims that Jesus was a pretty good guy, a master teacher even (even Islam). If that's the case, and the bible says that the only way to God is through Jesus, there is no contest over my faith and beliefs.

How does health insurance, through a job, usually work? by noclueinsurein Frugal

[–]ajaxdrivingschool 4 points5 points ago

Talk to your human resources department for specifics of your company's plan.

If your company outright pays for insurance, take it. If not, it will generally be a decent plan at group rates, as opposed to individual insurance rates. It depends on your personal preference, pay less, get less coverage, or pay more, get more coverage.

My girlfriend is leaving me because I'm not a faithful Christian and she thinks marriage wont' work by shandianin Christianity

[–]ajaxdrivingschool 1 point2 points ago

In my opinion, that is a horrible reason to move in together. Anyways, I really think that the best option may be to take the standard breakup advice (cut contact, delete from facebook, hit the gym), and move on. You two are young, and she seems to be seeking and discerning what she wants in a future husband. It sucks to be in your position, but it may be for the best.

Depends on the thickness and color of the hair. OP probably has baby fine blonde hair, not coarse facial hair.

Okay. Your post made it sound worse than it is. But still five months? Why did you rush into living together?

Anyways, how old are you two?

Normally, I would pull out one of my handy and numerous bible versus on the subject, and use that as evidence that, yes, God does have a problem with sex outside of marriage (as defined by one woman and one man in a lifelong union, just so this doesn't get messy).

The bible doesn't say "Go ahead and have sex, as long as it's special and meaningful." Where does the line get drawn? Can you have "special and meaningful" sex with three different partners? Five? Ten? Twenty?

Methodists Uphold Policy that Calls Homosexuality ‘Incompatible with Christian Teaching’ by partofaplan2in Christianity

I wholehearted agree with you. I am a member of a Methodist church, and I am very glad that the church can decisively stand on this point.

My girlfriend is leaving me because I'm not a faithful Christian and she thinks marriage wont' work by shandianin Christianity

[–]ajaxdrivingschool 1 point2 points ago

She probably doesn't want a decent relationship with a good guy, but a physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual relationship with someone who supports her faith, who can lead her and be a good Christian husband.

Love alone isn't enough to keep a marriage going, and she probably realized that faith mattered a lot more than she thought it did in a partner.

Sidebar, but have you been dating and living together for the same length of time? Your post makes it sound like that was the case.

I thought the same thing.

I do think that the issues his girlfriend cites are legitimate, but I think talking to the male friend about it is a little fishy.

You should tell your boyfriend about these newfangled things called telephones. They work great for talking to someone that you can't see.

I literally cannot run from my front door to my car in the driveway in "running" shoes without pain either. I recommend straightening your feet before you start a running program. Get a book on barefoot running, it's invaluable for beginners.

Serious, injury free runners (Ultra Marathon Runners, not the fast weekend warriors that have a spare Saturday) may run in shoes, however, their stride is identical to what it would be if they ran barefoot. Its not so much the shoe that's a problem, its the way you run in shoes, and the easiest way for the layman to fix that is to not lace up the shoes at all.

Your feet are nature's masterpiece. Our evolutionary ancestors ran miles upon miles with no support or cushioning. Most people don't need a traditional running shoe, and the ones that do often need a shoe to fix what another shoe caused.

I run in $100 Vibram Five Fingers, best move I ever made. I'm a street runner, running on concrete is not ideal.

Came here to say this. I would say 95% of the population has the best running equipment available for free. Go to a library, grab a book on barefoot running, and go.
