The "raid" was organized within that subreddit. That's not something that happens anywhere else on reddit, now is it? It's the only subreddit out there that makes a name for itself by going en masse to other subreddits just to harass and heckle people. Even if it weren't any big deal that those posters planned and executed their harassment campaign from SRS (it is), they would still be annoying as all fuck, and all of reddit would still have good enough reason to hate their guts and bitch about them endlessly.

Not really. The guy posted in /r/mensrights that he was considering committing suicide. A bunch of people from SRS then swarmed his thread egging him on. He killed himself that night. It's unclear if they were what actually pushed him over the edge, but there's no doubt they contributed - and the simple fact that they did it in the first place alone is amazingly disturbing.

Edit - just dug around a bit and apparently the suicide was a hoax. However, the people from SRS were still acting under the belief that it was real.

I think you're missing the point... it was because he wanted to encourage Christians to treat atheists better because it's just the right thing to do. He wasn't trying to make his church more religious.
