My ideal life is a line, not a circle.

Massive Scale Online Collaboration -- TED talk by Luis von Ahn by jungliztguyin technology

Absolutely brilliant. Not only do the means (a free language education) increase access to education worldwide, so do the ends (an internet translated into every single major language).

Innovation Starvation --- America has given up on space. It can't hack alternative energy. It doesn't do big science because it's frightened of risk, frightened of failure. Even science fiction has shifted focus towards darker, more sceptical themes by DrRichardCraniumin Economics

Any strategy that involves crossing a valley—accepting short-term losses to reach a higher hill in the distance—will soon be brought to a halt by the demands of a system that celebrates short-term gains and tolerates stagnation, but condemns anything else as failure. In short, a world where big stuff can never get done.

The iPad doesn't have e-ink. Reading for long periods of time on an iPad will strain your eyes more than a Kindle would.

That's besides the point. The comic humorously point out that scientists shouldn't be using extra syllables, even if they can understand them, because it makes science less accessible to the not-as-smart general public.
