Its cool to see a lot of replies here saying they lost theirs in their late teens/early twenties. I lost mine at 18 to my then boyfriend. And I admit, among my group of friends that was late. So its nice to see that you don't have to judge your experiences by your immediate group of friends. Its important to do what's right for you. For me I wanted to be in a serious relationship before I had sex, and it just happened that I didn't have a serious relationship until I was 18. If I had had one before that age, I probably would have had sex then. I think it doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable with your choices.

oh my god, they are totally racist. Its not that they are black, its that they are essentially black clown dolls... the Australian equivalent to the black face character from the US. There's nothing wrong with having dolls that have black skin colouring. We should have those available. But these dolls are not that.

People have no right to comment on your body or your choices. Call them out on it. Ask them what gives them the right to comment on your food choices? Shame them back. Or just politely say 'its really none of your business', or not so politely tell them to 'fuck off'. Whatever your comfortable with doing. But don't let anyone stop you from doing what you know is right for you. Be proud to eat fat-free dressing.

I hope its something that mainly only exists on tv. You'll notice that all adverts for menstrual gear absolutely avoids mentioning blood, and the vagina. Because that would be gross? haha I dont know man. Ignore everything advertising tells you. Flash your tampons to strangers if you want to. Talk about how heavy your flow is, and how you wish they would invent a tampon that REALLY doesnt leak. Don't let anyone tell you to be ashamed of something. We're all ashamed of enough stuff as it is, dont let people add to it for you.

I fail to see why pointing out those things answers the OPs question. Why are we hiding these things? Yes, yes, social convention. But why? Just because its social convention to apparently pretend that 1. women dont get periods, and 2. if they do get periods its so clean and simple and dont worry, youll never have to see anything gross.

I wish teenage girls were taught to be proud of their periods. I dont mean like, showing everyone your stained undies proud. But proud that its your body, and its doing what is best for you. And that is great!

I agree. I think its a nice idea, and nice that you want to experience the things she will feel. But I also feel that you don't need to do it to be able to empathise with her and support her. And I suppose from her point of view, childbirth sounds terrifying (or it does to me), and I suppose I would worry that if my partner had gone thruogh a simulated similar experience that I would feel as if I couldn't make as big a deal out of it as I wanted to because my partner went through it first (in a much lesser way of course).

I also think you are maybe making light of her situation. I mean, thats not what she will be going through. Perhaps physically the sensations will be similar, but the experience will be totally different. And maybe you having a false sense of that experience wont be as helpful as you simply listening to her and emphasising as best you can in the moment.

In a simply scientific sense, I think sure, do it. It would be incredibly interesting. But if your girlfriend doesnt want you to do it for her, maybe do it after she gives birth?

I hate tampons. I've always hated them. I hate pulling them out and having this big bloody clot of stuff I have to do something with. And honestly thats the best thing about the menstrual cup. You can pull it out (the stem and outside of the cup should be totally clean of menstrual fluid), empty it straight into the toilet, wipe it with TP or run it under the sink, and put it straight back in.

As for being grossed out by the weird sight of the blood. Yeah. The blood in the menstrual cup looks weird. Its like, brown and clumpy and mucusy, and although totally gross, I think its kind of cool to be able to see whats actually coming out of you. Rather than what it looks like half absorbed by cotton. And maybe a bit of exposure therapy to your menstrual blood would be helpful for you? Then again, you dont have to look at it. You can just empty it without looking.

Its not like a stream of blood or anything. It doesnt even really look like blood as I generally think of it. I think you need to just suck it up and try it out. If it really makes you uncomfortable after a few times, then at least you had a go.

And I just want to add to anyone on the fence about trying a menstrual cup, do it. They are so easy and clean to use. If you can use a tampon, you can use a menstrual cup. And for my money, they are less gross than tampons in that you dont have to touch any of the blood and disposal is a lot cleaner in that you just rinse the cup or wipe it out with some TP.

No, they are saying that if a woman admitted to being into it before realising the context they would be blamed for the entire incident. "But you liked it, and then you arbitrarily changed your mind. You were asking for it, you wanted it... etc". Its okay for a man to admit that he liked it before realising the context, because according to society he is always in the position of power. Which is just not the case.

Also I find it incredibly sad that he was worried that his aunt would think it was his fault, and he would get in trouble if she caught sight of her daughter raping him. Its another social assumption that the male is always in the position of power. In this instance Im really glad that he threw her off of him. In a lot of cases of female on male rape, the men are too confused and scared to try using their strength against their attacker. They have been told their whole lives "dont hit girls", and "boys always want sex", so its not suprising that many don't fight back. But whether someone fights back or not, its still rape. Even if the person isnt "traumatised" or doesnt admit to it being a big deal, its still rape.

That is all 100% true. Unfortunately the character she presents on New Girl only lives up to half of that, shes girly. Thats pretty much it. She isnt powerful, she could be, but for whatever reason they have decided to make her a woman-child. Which is kind of the opposite of what she apparently wants to portray. I have no idea if Zooey herself is like that though. So maybe its just a character she feels comfortable portraying for the sake of comedy.

I get the feeling that bra shopping is pretty horrible for everyone. No matter your size. Slightly more common sizes might have a wider range of options, but it seems that even with that there are still 9/10 bras that they try on and go "why the fuck would I want this?"

I dont understand why bra shopping is so damn hard. But as a "grossly obese" person, I dont think its any harder for me than it is for non-grossly obese people. Finding fit and style is still difficult and frustrating, but not impossible.

Urinary tract infections. No one told me about them. Not in sex ed class, not one of my friends, no one. Even my doctor didnt mention that it was probably caused by having sex and then not urinating soon afterwards. My then boyfriend was the one that had to break the news to me about why I got it and why it made him uncomfortable when I talked about it with my family while he was around. I felt very let down by both my doctor and my schools sex ed program. That seems like a pretty basic thing to mention to girls when teaching them about sex.
