Completely agree... Cinnamon is great. It just works

Since 2010, foresters have used biochar to successfully re-vegetate a riverside slope of mine waste, restoring soil ravaged by silver tailings by ichthisin BioChar

Great! been wondering when there was going to start being (more) coverage of land/mine reclamation via biochar. Its awesome as an ag amendment, etc but, its ability to restore bad land, even if the intention is just to restore the land... this has needed more coverage for a while.

Once it gets into flood plains and stops stuff from getting into the groundwater, etc... the things that biochar can help not happen... its almost impossible to compute. Its like saying, it has $x-amount of value because it cause this thing from not happening. Well, who's to say that would've happened anyway? well, it was happening, until biochar came in.... and, at that, biochar stopped it from continuing to happen. And, not just that, it also created so much water retention that less water was needed to be pumped into these areas to begin with to be able to run off... or just some logic like that.

Either way, awesome coverage.

on a side note, i like how it points out how there was 158tons of silver extracted from it and yet it still never turned a profit. That's $176.9m by today's valuation of silver.

It just goes to show that biochar, like silver... there are countless ways it could be done but, some of them are just better/smarter than others... and many of those 'others' are just not profitable.

If biochar were sold for today's equivalent of $0.10/lb... they could've made more money from the land char'ing and replanting and re'charing the land and made more money off of it in a 'sustainable' way with not only less but next-to no environmental negative and a whole lot of environmental positive.

Biochar should've been 'being-done' for a very long time now, and should be being done on a much larger scale than its currently not. Good coverage, and glad to see positive results from its application.

Now, hopefully they can find that dye!

The $6 Gasoline That Almost Was by Vailhemin energy

ie. if we weren't using fossil fuel based fertilizers and pesticides to consume that extra energy, the petro companies would've held us hostage and forced the prices to be higher.

Coyotes in the Hurstbourne area by weirdiein Louisville

I've seen one while driving through seneca park at night at least three times in the past two months. He runs a bit away, about 50-60 ft then stops and stares at me. I've pulled over twice now (the 2nd and 3rd times I've seen him). The first time he looked for a few seconds then ran off, across the park towards the barns, the second time he just sat there and stared at me for well over two minutes. Big glowing eyes and a mischevious look. Honestly, he seems like he has tons of personality.

Also have seen two or three foxes around there too, around Lexington and alta Vista. Really pretty, and pretty good sizes too...for foxes
