Well first of all, I've known this girl for 7+ years (a third of her life). I can confidently say she's not sleeping around. But I understand the cookie cut-out of what happens to nice guys, as its happens a lot and even to some nice guy friends of mine.

I really don't consider myself the typical "nice guy". Yes, I was the short chubby kid with glasses who ran home to play Starcraft until my junior year in high school, when I got contacts, grew 5 inches over the summer, made the basketball team, etc. Suddenly girls saw me.

But still being the shy nerd I was, I didn't like or understand the attention. I still saw the same person when I looked in the mirror. As the years progressed I got used to the attention and sometimes now I find myself tempted to act like the "jerk" in your comment. There are way too many whores out there, and if you're decent-looking and know what to say, its not hard to string a girl along and have her go crazy over you.

That's why I tried so hard with the girl from my story, chased her around the country, all that. Because she knew who I was inside and out. But at the end of the day, I wasn't happy when I was with her. I spent too much of my time trying to keep her happy while she did nothing for me.

edit: and I still play starcraft (2). Embrace who you are gents, nerds are sexy.
