Why is it that every time I get motivated I have a particularly bad day? by sweetsourin GetMotivated

[–]ThatGuyWhoReddits 1 point2 points ago

Because not being motivated equates to the path which unmotivated people take: the path of least resistance.

The Beethoven Museum website refers to recordings of this piece and others made by Jörg Demus on a Graf piano Beethoven owned. :)

That would be an Austrian pianist by the name of Jörg Demus. :)

Funnily enough, she does usually carry money with her so she can put money in a church's donation pot if she comes across one.

Very true. If you have to do something daunting, there is only one way of making it less daunting, and that is by doing it.

Needed a job. I went out and created my own position! by 420_FarmAssistin GetMotivated

[–]ThatGuyWhoReddits 61 points62 points ago

Trust me, wolves - this is what you need to do. It's not about why they should hire you, it's about why they need to hire you. They aren't interviewing you, you're interviewing them.

That's my philosophy.

And I have never failed an interview.

i think this every time im on a plane by alexmkingin funny

[–]ThatGuyWhoReddits 1 point2 points ago

Actually there's a lot of sense behind it. It's in case there is an incident during takeoff and landing and the flight crew need to summon your attention. They don't want you to be distracted by anything.

Similarly, the reason why you are told for windows to be kept open during takeoff and landing is because in case there is an incident, rescuers will be able to see if there is anyone who needs help in that/those seat(s).

To the guys who yelled "Run fatty run"... by EnviroGirlSarahin loseit

This is awesome.

I'd like to extend your message to people unhappy with their weight who hear such comments: use them.

I've seen so many people on reddit get their motivation to lose weight from words like that. Use them to your advantage. The cold hard truth may hurt at first, but it's actually much kinder than sugar-coated lies which do not change anything.

To extend from Exoneration's post, I guess it simply depends on reaching the point where you resent the person you are more than the person you want to be. That's the moment everything changes really changes.

How to get motivated in college? Help. by azurmadilloin GetMotivated

[–]ThatGuyWhoReddits 1 point2 points ago

The reason why people procrastinate is because it is entirely human nature to take the quicker/easier/more enjoyable/more certain option or reward than the less preferable one. Imagine you are offered a piece of apple or a piece of delicious cake. You will choose the cake, right? And why not? You can take the apple another time, no sweat. You can take the healthier option next time.

The problem is when that "another time" becomes "this time", and you're facing the same choices, you will do exactly the same thing - take the nicer option.

What you need to realise is that "future you" cannot be trusted to make the right decision, and your inherent inclination to postpone it will eventually sabotage it. "I'll do it later" - but will you? Probably not. Eliminate that from happening by doing it now.

I'm 17, have a car, a half-tank of gas, and absolutely no money. I'm sick and tired of sitting on my ass all day. Wat do? by matty2x4in GetMotivated

[–]ThatGuyWhoReddits 6 points7 points ago

Get rid of the car. Insurance, tax, servicing/roadworthyness, fuel it's evidently a black hole for your money. Use your feet, it's healthier and it's free. For distances further away, get a bicycle. It's a fraction of the cost, quicker than walking, and still healthy.

I blew all my money on a killer piano, and learned the piano well enough that people are willing to pay me to teach them how to play too. Plus, chicks dig it.

I couldn't help but laugh at other students who are going to work to earn enough money to pay for the car that gets them to work so they can earn enough money to pay for the car that gets them to work so they can...you get the idea. Don't be one of them.

Sean Penn Says Falkland Islands Belong To Argentina, Hollywood Actor Labels UK Actions 'Colonial' | Sky News by mountaindoooin unitedkingdom

[–]ThatGuyWhoReddits 1 point2 points ago

Actually, the Argentine invasion was the result of the military junta's plan to divert public attention from the country's piss-poor economic situation - they played the patriotism card and that's pretty much what Kirchner's doing right now.

There were huge riots in Argentina following the surrender. It came as a massive shock to the general public for them, for they were under the impression that they were winning. Within days, General Galtieri was removed from power.
