I don't think staying put will be an option, they'll be closing down the low-pop servers most likely.

Warhammer 40,000 Black Templar by nicholas_kayin gaming

[–]T_Hickock 1 point2 points ago

I have to admit that I'm not well versed on the intricacies of the lore, also that I probably need to read the actual text since I only have the summary to go on. If the quality of Ward's prose is at the level of a children's novel (as it seems with the Draigo story), then it's quite possible he wasn't attempting some philosophical comparison.

It's still possible that the Templars were calculating, in some sick sense, rather than victims of daemonic possession. You hear stories of wartime snipers who try to get in to the heads of their targets as they observe them. They would try to invent stories about their activities, mimic their actions and so on... The smearing of blood does sound consistent with the superstitious 'common sense' of the universe, maybe these guys attributed an additional defensive property from the blood in addition to their own. After all, I note that the understanding of science in 40K is at about the level of stone-age man.

Regardless, as I read more about this Matthew Ward, it does seem more and more that he is just an arse-hat.

I can definitely see that happening.

Remember that these guys are basically militant evangelic fundamentalists, on steroids. Are the actions described here by these Templars an abomanation to their order? Sure. Then again, so was the Spanish Inquisition who also thought they were the good guys. Remember they tortured and slaughtered anyone who thought differently.

Very often in human history have groups adopted this kind of perversion, that their might was right and God was on their sole side. I'm sure this instance isn't the typical behaviour of all Templars and they would be destroyed because of it, but it doesn't discount the possibility of some faction within the organisation splitting off in such a manner.

It's one of those 'cautionary tales' you tell young Templars to keep them from straying.

[edit] However, this Draigo stuff sounds like cliche Hollywood 'believe in yourself and you can do miracles' magical thinking bullshit, though. First mission daemon kill? Please. No one has done anything amazing on their first attempt of anything, ever.

Give QuickFlix a try. I've been using them since Christmas and seem to have a pretty wide range. Not sure if there's much of a difference in cost to Bigpond's, I'd never used a similar service previously.

Leveling and Questing as a Healer? by Dristigin swtor

[–]T_Hickock 0 points1 point ago

I specced as a DPS for my Sage, with just a little in healing to help with the levelling. I'd gone with that build assuming that levelling as a straight-up healer would be just like doing a Holy Priest. However, if anything, it turned out to be easier.

I don't know too much about how Agents are put together, but Consulars have three of their main damage dealing abilities in the base class. So I'd discovered, late in the piece, that all you lose is a bit of speed at killing things, but gain a huge amount of survivability (especially against those elites) and reduced downtime.

I'd definitely say give a full heal build a shot for a couple of levels and see how you go. They'll love you in WFs too!

As much as I think Andy Dick is a bit of a ... dick, I still would not blame him for Hartman's wife's actions. He didn't make Brynn take the cocaine and send herself insane with her return to addiction. Although his callousness about it is stunning, placing the blame squarly on him is immensely unfair.

That doesn't follow. There's no skill involved at all with the crew-skills, just pressing (mashing) buttons and waiting for timers to expire.

How is sitting at your computer managing your crew skills any different to sitting on your couch and doing the same thing on an iPod? Besides, the people using the mobile app still need to log in sometimes to list all of the stuff they're farming. It's also a more expensive method, since farming the mats out in the world doesn't cost anything but your time.

It could well be argued that improvements to the GTN interface will bring about more people listing their items, who have not bothered thus far because of how cumbersome it is. So either way, there's going to be trouble down the road with 'excessive supply'.

He's only complaining because he doesn't want competition, it's pretty much the Goldman Sachs arguement. It ignores the benefits it would do for buyers trying to source the stuff to make things.

I think the other issue will be with available bag space, for when missions crit and you get back more than you would expect normally. This would suddenly become an inventory/bank manager also.

It's a broken game.

That's a bit strong, you must admit. SW:TOR certainly has some issues (with both bugs and design), but on the whole it is still a largely functional game, with a few teething problems.

DC Online's disgrace of a chat system at launch would be more towards what I'd consider broken, since communication is one of the fundamental aspects of an MMO. But it still wasn't 'broken', per se.

People are going to leave a new MMO because it's boring or there's nothing to do, not because it's 10% incomplete. Edit: formatting

I'd wondered if it was Megadeth's use of this song that inspired them to use it for their game which, like the song, was about the aftermath of nuclear destruction. They didn't respond on a Q&A thread at around the time of launch, but I like to think that I'm right!

I must be the only guy that things Alien 3 was a fine movie all round. Certainly, the first two were higher favourites of mine, but the third was still great. Convicts finding their place in the universe and a test of their faith with the arrival of a woman and a demon. Also that classic hook with the cynical interests of an unscrupulous government agency.
