No he's not, no he isn't. He's a plant by the French. IT'S A PLOT.

Funny how it's taken so long to create a male birth control option-but researchers caution that it should be non-hormonal b/c contraceptives that rely on disrupting production of the male hormone "cause side effects such as mood swings, acne and irritability." Hah. by Dianaein TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sysiphuslove 4 points5 points ago

Men never tamper with birth control or do anything like this of course. It's physically impossible for them.

Try it yourself, guys: grab a pin and just see if you can prick a condom. It won't happen! Men don't do it!

I don't know why not.

The reason they don't understand us is because they don't want to: they wouldn't deign to. They have that money to insulate themselves from our lives, not live them. I don't mean those who worked for the money and know what it took, I mean the guys who went from suburbia to university to workplace and never felt want all the way.

We live the lives of people who 'make bad decisions', who came from 'common stock', who 'have no life skills'. They live in a world absolutely reliant on its exclusivity, where 'bad elements' like normal people are carefully and politely excluded, where skipping the electric bill for the groceries is just a horror story, where foreclosure or a medical emergency is a problem that can be succinctly solved, not an apocalypse come upon them, because they have the resources to deal with it and can go through unofficial channels. It's a different universe.

We can understand them just fine, especially now, with this at our disposal. But the glass is one-way.

Shit flying around, mostly. I've seen a lot of objects do things they shouldn't.

When I was about twelve, I walked into my bedroom once and a pair of shoes came flying out of the closet. They landed a full foot in front of the door, they had originally been on the floor inside.

I was lying in bed one night when a VERY heavy, square, completely closed, normally placed dresser suddenly decided to take a dive to the floor. The damn thing was probably 300lbs and it just went over right in front of me; I was using my laptop and saw something moving in the dark room, looked up and saw this huge dresser leaning lazily forward like something out of a horror movie. As I watched it tipped and landed with a monstrous crash, scaring the hell out of me and my boyfriend (who'd been in the other room).

A nearly-full container of coffee flew off of the top of the fridge in that same apartment, landing in the middle of the kitchen floor and getting coffee everywhere. It happens, stuff falls, but this thing landed a good four feet from the fridge with coffee in a radiating blast pattern, and it was stored at the top back of the refrigerator next to the cabinets.

My boyfriend has been attacked by two falling light fixtures which were secure for many years until the moment he stepped beneath them. One of the two was my mother's, in the laundry room, and I know for a fact that thing was unremovable and had been there for 20 years: the other was a securely-screwed fixture above the toilet that I'll never know how it fell. It screwed on with a bolt that held the glass fixture to the base, the glass part fell on him (he was fine, just startled).

We can start by not tilting the system so far to the upper tiers that most people have a hard enough time keeping the household budget in the black, far less becoming innovators and entrepreneurs.

Older generations had the benefit of a much better job market and much better wages vs. inflation.

[–]Sysiphuslove 0 points1 point ago

...which is fucking insane considering that the job market pitches out all types, especially now, and stereotyping the unemployed into 'uneducated, unskilled, unprofessional' people does absolutely no good at all and probably substantial harm if it's normally as demoralizing as this post demonstrates.

I have no doubt that criminal forces in the intelligence community are trying to subvert the protest and deny the right to protest through subterfuge. No doubt in my mind.

At the same time, I have trouble condemning an operation that catches people who were genuinely considering using explosives. If the bottom falls out in this country like that, if we start having things blow up for almost any reason, it will provide an excuse for the criminal element working against the American people to escalate. If someone's planning on blowing up a government official, that's very different from the feds sending agents provocateurs into peaceful rallies.

Knock his van if you want, but it's a trade-off. You trade the hours of your life, whatever you could be doing otherwise, to work so that you can buy nice hotel rooms and Continental breakfasts. He values his time and what he could be doing more than the money and the Continental breakfast.

There was a man back in the 1800s named Juan Baptista dos Santos who was born with two penises: he worked in a circus, and eventually married a woman with two vaginas.

Anyone in the world who still counts as 'wealthy' has to be suffering from a historic loss of contact with majority social reality. How can someone who makes thousands of times an average worker's pay have any concept of what life is like for 99% of us?

And these are the people running the world!

If it starves out the RIAA and all the other money-abusing middlemen, I am 100% behind it. I'll do it. I want to support artists, not artist-exploiting vampires, and if that obstacle were removed I would merrily pay an artist for his work.

DAE regard Sookie as their least favorite character? by Swiss_Cheese9797in TrueBlood

[–]Sysiphuslove 1 point2 points ago

I agree. Her relationship with Bill, I think, almost bordered abuse: no matter what he did, she would find a reason to blame him or turn it around on him. I absolutely fell in love with Bill and I think watching him stammer with pained dignity through Sookie's tirades was a big part of that.

Sookie was fine in the first season or so, but as time went on I've come to like her less and less. She's impulsive, rude, flippant, self-superior and mean.

Just my opinion.

A college degree is not proof of an education. Don't let them get to you, a lot of them don't even have any concept of how fortunate they were to be able to stay on the rail long enough to get that $200k certificate, and a great many of them don't live up to it once they have it.

It's a status indicator these days. It's important to have higher education if you have the aptitude for it, but it's not a free ticket to superiorityville: it's not evidence one way or the other for brains.
