TROPHY CASE

I agree with your general assertion, however, if your family was murdered in front of you while all of you were at a facility where there is a reasonable expectation of "provided safety," then you might also have a civil case against the operators of said facility.

It is also unclear what exactly made her civil claim reasonable in the eyes of the system. Perhaps it was the example I gave, or perhaps the school refused to investigate. We don't know enough, unless I missed something.

I actually agree with you about the benefit of grooming standards but to say beards offer protection from KOs, aside from perhaps "hiding" the chin, is complete rubbish.

I'm Sick Of Pretending: I Don't "Get" Art | VICE by darkreef2in WTF

[–]StackOfFiveMarmots 2 points3 points ago

After reading your comment I am left wondering why you seem to be writing off glass as a worthless medium. Surely (almost) all mediums foster art which spans the spectrum of bad to good. Even when one might say that most of the art of a given medium is bad, I'd be hard pressed to ever label the medium itself because of that.

As I see it, a medium is a nearly inert or purely objective thing. The art within that medium is what warrants judgement. It is for this reason that I have a hard time naming genres of music which I wholly dislike. I find most punk to be just a bunch of noise, and yet I can name good punk bands which I enjoy.

As a US citizen I'm curious as to what you're seeing in the video that is shocking to you. There was no threat made beyond the threat of arrest if the guy were to get caught speeding again. The cop talked down to him in the manner which he did in order to scare some sense into him and deter him from committing the same crime again.

The bottom line is that the guy went far enough over the speed limit that the cop could've busted him for reckless driving and given him an outrageously pricey ticket on top of that, but he didn't. He let the guy go. I'd be happy if I was that speeder.

Eventually, yes. Which is almost certainly the case right now. Good stuff is hard to find and people don't like it. Legendary and Set items do need buffing, however people seem to believe that because Legendary is "ranked" above Rare that the items' stats should reflect this. This is not going to be the case, ever. I believe Rare items will ultimately surpass everything else, but these will be, well.. extremely rare stat combinations.

Is there a good guide for newbies and unlocks? by camp_jacking_royin Tribes

[–]StackOfFiveMarmots 3 points4 points ago*

I don't know of a guide, but I can try to help. I got Soldier to 95% and Pathfinder to 93% before I felt like I was going to be unlocking things that were largely "useless" if I went further. Both of these classes are good at what you describe your play style to be. In fact, every(?) class can inflict a moderately effective level of base disruption if played correctly.

As for unlocks/upgrades, the major consideration with whatever class you choose to focus on is when you want to drop the 100k on weapons unlocks. The Soldier's Spinfuser and Eagle Pistol upgrades are both great, as are the PTH's Bolt Launcher and Light AR.

You could break down the "usefulness" of purchases based on if you like hit-scan weapons. Your FOV setting has some relevance here since lower FOV will give you greater accuracy with launched projectiles, while higher FOV will grant you accuracy with hit-scans. The ARs, the Eagle Pistol, and he Shotgun are all hit-scan. The Shotgun is surprisingly good, and I find myself still using it even after shelling out for the Light AR.

I could break down each class and their upgrades for you, if you'd like, but the short of it is that armor and weapons upgrades are great. Perks seem less essential for Soldier than for PTH, whose Reach and Ego perks are pretty much vital for good play. My advice would be to just pick your upgrades based on how you're fairing in matches. Low on energy? Work towards a +energy passive. Bored with chipping away at the upgrades? Save for an unlock. Hope this helped a little.

FOV and monitor size by Catossin Tribes

Same here. I tried 100, 110, and 120 due to things I read on this subreddit but found them to be just too awkward compared to what I'm used to. Can't see as much but is higher FOV a "crutch" for having poor awareness? I don't really know the answer to that, as I'm new to Z-axis FPSs. I seem to be doing well in pubs, at least.

That's very interesting because I play Pathfinder a lot and I've been feeling like jump/ski has been causing me to losing speed especially while going uphill. Having never read about this bug/fix and coming to this conclusion all on my own, I have to wonder how successful the fix was.

Edit: Whoops, missed your edit. It sounds as if it is still possible to lose speed from jumping. They say "If..." but perhaps I'm not understanding.

Keep trying new medicines.

As someone who was just discharged from a psych ward 3 days ago and has been dealing with depression for 15ish years, this can't be overstated.

I've tried many anti-depression medications from Zoloft to Celexa to Effexor to Prozac to Cymbalta to Wellbutrin to .. etc. The ONLY one I've found that works for me is Lexapro. Our brains are highly unique.

You really do have to just try and try until something clicks, but that usually means you're taking fuck-all for 4-6 weeks, and repeat until you get lucky. Doctor can be a helpful guide but some of these medicines have poorly understood, or entirely mysterious pharmacologies. It can be a pain in the ass to find the one that works for you, but you're worth that effort.

Had to do a double take to make sure that was a guitar he was playing. Sounded very obviously guitarish at times but who the hell plays the guitar slap style? It almost sounded detuned to C - B to mimic a 6 string bass but I don't have a very good ear so I'm not sure. Interesting stuff.

Britain never really did become the bad guy here though. While that was going on I heard way more reactionary rhetoric coming from British media talking just as you are. Way more offense taken, and I still have no idea why. The common US citizen, or even politician, never blamed Britain. Ridiculous...

BP was the bad guy and rightfully so. Same with Chevron. These are multinational corporations, not actual nations, after all.

I identify as "leftist" and was initially going to request that your elaborate on your statement. Then I realized that this was simply a knee-jerk reaction on my part. I know why you said it and there is some grain of truth there.

The furthering of "women and minorities" by the left is not, by itself, an ignoble goal. In fact, I roundly support the concept. However, it can't be denied that there is a dark side to this agenda which manifests in the form of what is actually sexism and racism hidden under the guise of "equality."

There is nothing equal about many aspects of the programs/laws/campaigns which the left has spawned. Whenever these things go a little bit too far, they cross a line and become exactly what it is they claim to be trying to mitigate. When this happens, they are invulnerable to criticisms by virtue of the fact that to disagree with them is to brand one's self a bigoted, racist, woman-hating, oppressor.

It certainly is a revoltingly vile facet of leftist policy and thought. Not all leftists think this way.
