let me ask why are you playing source first of all!? haha jk its your preference, but oilrig is assassination, which is not played in leagues along with cs_ maps because they dont make for exciting or balanced games. along with the same idea of balanced games, many pro players dont recognize maps such as vertigo and back alley as having good layouts for strategy and game flow. my personal opinion: stick to 1.6 and get esea, they play a lot of the older maps that you dont really see anymore like cbble etc..

i make transparent background sprays for 1.6 ..1.6 is so much harder because you have to ghetto rig everything with the images- there is no custom spray option

Well, you could create a listen-server for free and you would be able to play on lan or thru a vpn (virtual private network) such as hamachi. hamachi is a great tool, basically lets you play on a lan with people anywhere in the world. or you could create your own dedicated server, yes, and dismiss the need for the hamachi client. and yes there are still server companies that provide cs 1.6 dedicated servers which you can access thru the web via ftp and/or control panel. the prices are going to vary depending on slots, private our public, and of course what fps you want them to run the server at (higher fps is more demanding on the server box)
EDIT: i recommend nuclear fallout only because they were the most reliable and had the best registry when we were jumping from server provider to server provider over the years.

to get 1000 FPS "Boosted" you gotta download a ping booster config file that goes in the cstrike folder which gets executed by your server.cfg file itself

client side you want fps_max 100, cl_cmdrate 101, cl_updaterate 101, ... server side, you want: sys_ticrate 1000, sv_maxupdaterate 100, sv_maxrate 30000, ... other than that just make sure the server is running at higher fps than default (default is like 85 i think), good servers will have about 500 fps, but reallly nice scrim servers usually run boosted at 1000 fps. to check the servers fps in-game, log in to rcon and do "rcon stats" in console and it will tell you the server fps. also keep in mind that if you do "net_graph 1" or "net_graph 3" in console you can monitor your loss and choke to the server, if those are consistently low or non existant, you should be good to go
