Maurice Sendak, Author of ‘Where the Wild Things Are,’ Dies at 83 by magister0in books

I'm sure Maurice would rather have us crying out for a wild rumpus, rather than mourning.

Good team name. All too often I feel like improv groups are named something ridiculous and stupid.

I don't think it's satire as much as masturbation.

It sounds like it might not be an anxiety disorder, but rather an isolated episode of anxiety. I want to see him pull through this without incident regardless. Does anyone have any further information on it?

Yeah! The one citizens of Florida fought for, tooth and nail, for decades! And then he decided to score political points instead of single-handedly alleviating the terrible traffic congestion along the I-4 corridor AND boosting tourism all along the railway!

How's that dick taste, progress?

What suggestions don't you take? by revdjin improv

[–]Schlichtinator 0 points1 point ago

We do a few short-form games in which someone's identity is a famous/fictional figure. We do not accept:

Lady Gaga Helen Keller Hitler George Zimmerman And so on.

One thing I recommend is monologuing based on a suggestion. So, someone says, "Hitler". Okay; have someone give a monologue about an experience they had in a history class, and base the scene off the monologue.

Dante Bichette and his Curious oWAR by Schlichtinatorin baseball

[–]Schlichtinator[S] 1 point2 points ago

Interesting to see how all the little pieces stack together. I wasn't thinking all too much about the positional adjustment; having a slugger at second who gets on base is a bit more excellent than having Random Meathead #5 in left.

Dante Bichette and his Curious oWAR by Schlichtinatorin baseball

[–]Schlichtinator[S] 2 points3 points ago

Let's take a look at 1995: Bichette hit .340/.364/.620, which gives a pretty good idea of his makeup as a hitter. He accrued 40 HRs and 128 RBIs in 579 ABs with 22 BBs and 96 SOs.

This gave him an oWAR of 2.2.

Craig Biggio (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/biggicr01.shtml) swatted .302/.406/.483 in 1995. A great OBP, for sure. He collected 22 HRs and 77 RBIs in 553 ABs with 80 BBs and 85 SOs.

This gave him a NL-leading oWar of 6.8.

There is definitely a difference between hitting in the Astrodome and hitting in Denver. This, however, seems like a huge gulf. Suggesting that the average starter could slug 40 HRs and 38 2Bs, as suggested by the valuation of his season in oWAR seems like a pretty audacious claim.

Interested to hear what folks have to say about it!

r/orlando, I need to write a brief overview of your city, and all the internet will tell me about are your theme parks. Please, tell me about yourselves. by VikingBonerin orlando

Two quick "facts" about Florida in general: Miami is the northernmost city in South America. The farther north you go from Orlando, the farther "south" you get. A lot of the Panhandle feels like Georgia, down to the clay.

I grew up in Winter Park; I can echo the sentiments that it is a great place to check out. Austin's Coffee and Film is fun, but also unapologetically hipster. If you don't mind, you'll love it.

I encourage you to avoid I-Drive, but if you must check it out, do it in the early afternoon or late morning. Do not ever do it around rush hour. You will die.

You absolutely MUST check out SAK Comedy Lab at some point. If you can hit up a weekend show, excellent. If not, Lab Rats perform during the week, and all of the prices are excellent.

If you want to do some exploring, check out the springs! Wekiva is my favorite; you can canoe, swim, hike, and camp. Blue Springs and Rock Springs are wonderful, as well. One of them has manatees when the water level gets high enough. Can't remember which.

From what I know, Downtown is more exciting than it was a few years ago, now that the new arena has replaced the old O-Rena (which imploded recently) and is right there on Church Street.

Hope you enjoy it!

EDIT: If you make it up to Winter Springs, Casselberry, Oviedo, etc: YOU MUST GO TO STEFANOS. (www.stefanos-trattoria.com/) It is the best Italian food ever. Period.

[–]Schlichtinator 0 points1 point ago

Ahh, Tim Duncan is such an underrated player. Fun fact: Though he blocked 2/3 of the shots Dwight Howard has in the last four seasons, his blocks are more valuable, since they result in many more rebounds and fast break opportunities.

TL;DR I would blow Tim Duncan. Twice.
