TIL Queen's "We Are The Champions" is scientifically proven to be the catchiest song ever by Ibby238in todayilearned

[–]SamZR 0 points1 point ago

Ha, I just typed a reply to someone above about how everyone raves about Toxic while it does nothing for me when I listen to it. Umbrella, on the other hand, is my favorite song from the last decade. I don't even like Rihanna that much, aside from Umbrella and We Found Love, but that song is amazing.

Really? I can almost never remember any aspect of any song until I've heard it at least three times, no matter how catchy it is. That said, I know what it's like to hear about a song that's supposedly incredibly catchy and that everyone else raves about and then listen to it and have it do nothing for you. I feel that way about Toxic. I feel like I'm somehow immune to its hooks.

What the fuck is wrong with 9gag? All you guys act like it's Satan's internet incarnate. It's just a funny picture sharing site. It's like reddit but with a much younger and less elitist demographic.

I'm starting to think you guys hate 9gag just because it competes with reddit, like one high school hating a competing high school's sports team.

"The biggest 'House' problem was that the show never developed a supporting cast that was worthy of Laurie’s performance. I exclude Robert Sean Leonard, who gave a magnificently sustained performance. Never showy, Leonard nonetheless took firm hold of every scene that hinged upon his presence." by ihateyoursisterin HouseMD

[–]SamZR 4 points5 points ago

It's interesting that the writer of that article claimed that, of the original team and the second team, only Olivia Wilde's character/performance was commendable, because on another site, someone claimed that Wilde was a terrible actress and everyone else seemed to agree. I didn't, but I was clearly in the minority.

That said, I've actually liked pretty much all the team members other than Adams and maybe Taub, who were both pretty boring.

Should I tell my parents about my blood test? by ABThrowawayOin AskReddit

[–]SamZR 0 points1 point ago

Wait. What? So what you're saying is that the parents could both have A or B alleles and hh? But how would the child inherit the H allele if both parents have h? Or am I just misunderstanding this?

EDIT: Never mind, I understand it now. You're saying that mom has hh/AO (or AB or AA), while dad has Hh/BB (or BO). Which would mean that their daughter got A/h from mom and B/H from dad, right? Wow, that was complicated.

House M.D. Season 8 Episode 21 "Holding on" Discussion Thread by Lecter07in HouseMD

[–]SamZR 14 points15 points ago

I feel the opposite way. I really wish next week would never come so House would never end. The writing in the most recent seasons hasn't been as captivating as it was in the first few, but I'm just so attached to all these characters and it's like Wilson won't be the only one dying after next week. :(

[SPOILER ALERT INSIDE] Do you all agree with the 'Sprint Player of the Season' (the one with the $100,000 prize)? by Cdtcoin survivor

[–]SamZR 0 points1 point ago

The only problem with that is that there really weren't any other standout players this season, other than Colton, who I think we can all agree didn't deserve $100,000.

DAE find it annoying when someone begins their post with things like "I know this is going to be buried and nobody will ever see it"? by Parcanmanin DoesAnybodyElse

[–]SamZR 0 points1 point ago

It's not for pity, it's just to acknowledge that you're late to the party so it doesn't look like you're just talking to yourself.

Those "I know this is about to get downvoted" posts, on the other hand, are just begging for someone to say "SO BRAVE"

[–]SamZR 0 points1 point ago

I do that because I feel sad that no one is ever going to read my awesome post so that it doesn't look like I'm just talking to myself.

Because sometimes I feel like sharing my cool opinion/story even when I know no one is ever going to read it and think, "HEY, THAT'S COOL." I feel sad that no one's probably ever gong to read it, and so I append it to the message to share my sadness with everyone

Jon Hamm answers questions from teen girls about stupid shit by ROBERT_FAGGOTin videos

[–]SamZR -1 points0 points ago

I am a gay of one age who doesn't like Jon Hamm. He seems pretentious to me. Sure, I don't know him in real life, but I've seen him on SNL and the Daily Show and I didn't really like what I saw.

I don't find him attractive, either.

Apparently everybody loves everything Jon Hamm does, regardless of how funny it is. I don't; I think he seems kind of pretentious.

Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that reddit is actually full of dog people, but people only mock reddit for the cat posts because they feel like dogs are more worthy of posts.

That made more sense in my head.

Nicola Roberts - Beat Of My Drum by chernobongin crappymusic

[–]SamZR 1 point2 points ago

What. This song is actually pretty good. Sure, the chorus is pretty generic, but the rest of the lyrics are decent, the vocals are passable (that "oh" is probably one of those "love it or hate it" things, though) and the production (courtesy of Diplo!) is quite nice.

I'd give it a B+. Come at me, bro.

Adele's "21" has finally knocked Thriller off the list of top-selling albums in the UK. It took 30 years for this to happen. by pdmcmahonin Music

[–]SamZR 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, but piracy these days is so much easier. All you have to do is make a couple of mouseclicks and bam it's on your harddrive. Back then, you'd have to get some cassettes somehow and then record them (or buy them off someone else for a lower price). Piracy rates are far higher today.

You know we live in an age where there's Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, and Spotify, right? It's not that hard to find out on your own.

She's a singer-songwriter who sings the massively popular songs Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, and Set Fire to the Rain and the album 21, which has been even more popular.

Hm. Where do you usually sell them and how do you make sure your private data isn't left on your old model? I got a Macbook Pro in January, but I'm strongly considering getting a new one if they have the retina displays and the Ivy Bridge processors.
