Yes it was. If it were white Americans committing the violence, would you be looking to the pilgrims to explain their behavior? Of course not. You wouldn't look for any kind of cultural explanation. If it was white people you'd understand that these are the actions of individuals, and judge them as such. But as soon as someone with a darker complexion comes into the picture, there must be some kind of explanation for their behavior which applies to their entire ethnic group. There must be some reason why "these people" do these awful things.
