Two years ago, on a drive back from Vegas through the desert, I found and adopted this guy. He was abandoned in front of a convenience store in the middle of nowhere outside of Barstow. I think the best word I have to describe the place is post-apocalyptic. He was undernourished, flies buzzing, the whole bit. Now he's the best dog I've ever known and my only true companion. He's loyal, obedient, goofy, and handsome. Also, I'm pretty sure somewhere inside of him he's grateful... though that may be my anthropomorphization. You'll always feel good knowing that you gave that little being a better life, and that feeling creates a special bond. Congrats man, and thanks for being awesome.

Lol..dude you can still smoke at AT&T. People were smoking during world series games. Just ask Josh Hamilton.. He said he could smell it from center. I took bong and vape rips during Jerry Garcia night last year. SF still smokes at the park, trust me

this will get downvoted to hell, but it needs to be said. the black keys were awesome 8 years ago... when you could catch them in record stores. when they're "two piece" band didn't actually include four people for most of the set. when dan was bearded and sat in a chair blasting thickfreakness at 11 in small, smokey rooms. they're act doesn't translate in the big venues... and el camino sucked

ha.. i remember that tree. though, it's not still decorated. it was one of those "we'll rest when we get to that tree" trees. those slabs after the climb and before the summit go on forever.

they're probably up now. when we left tuesday they were starting to get serious for the season in the valley. we left when they told us we had to get up every morning to stand in line for registration at camp 4. the previous week we just registered ourselves. also, we had fires most nights, but come sunday all of a sudden ranger danger were telling us we had to put them out at 10 for "air quality"... we bounced and probably won't return til fall. yosemite is just too hectic during the peak season

broke my pinky toe in yosemite last weekend. took a fairly serious whip on gear. i finished the difficult section and wasn't expecting the fall at all. something moved and my hand came unjammed. my belayer was giving me rope to get to the anchor and i was about 6' above my last piece. i'm lucky it was only my toe. could have easily been a larger foot bone or an ankle.

injuries happen when you aren't paying attention, whether climbing or on the ground. stay safe. stay sharp.

true, if you fall all the way to the ground a helmet will do very little to protect you. but if you take a lead fall with your leg behind the rope you'll be glad you're helmeted as you flip upside down and swing head first back into the crag.

way easier to hate hard on the corporate coffee drinking tards than the folks at pergs. i live across the street from pergs. it's alright. nice porch/patio. they serve beer. prices aren't bad. some of the barista chicks are super cute. cerridwyn is fucking kick ass. sure some of the clientele are overly fashion conscious young people... but they're usually pretty nice. it's a local joint that has been around since before the earthquake (albiet in a different location). OP... there isn't anything more nauseatingly hipster than generalized judgement. you must be soooocooool

to be fair... if you've ever seen radiohead live anywhere you know they NEVER just have cameras giving the audience unadulterated views of the band. there are always weird angles and effects. like a camera just on the kick drum. i've seen them going 7 times now (first show was bonnaroo 2006... one of their best sets to date. just check out the setlist. they debuted most of in rainbows. it was the first time anyone had ever heard house of cards, fucking incredible). anyway, they don't use their screens just so people in the back can see. never have. it's all about the total effect of image/sound/lights. if you go to a mega-festival and want to be close to enough to really see the band, you better sit there all day. that's all there is to it
