Leo Strauss's Political Philosophy and Its Legacy | Paul Gottfried by Qwill2in HistoryofIdeas

I'm sorry to say I'm not really the man to ask about Strauss, since the only experience I have with his own work is listening to some of his lectures on Plato (I think you'll find them in the links). But I do agree that he introduces a way of reading that can be fruitful.

I'm about to re-read The Republic in the Bloom translation (but it's exam-time here, and r/HoI admittedly steals time as well), and I'm certainly looking forward to that. I've saved up Klosko's article for reading after I've read Bloom's interpretive essay of The Republic.

By the way, Pyth linked to a whole lot of Strauss material in this thread (you may reconise the top link :) ).

Bart D. Ehrman - The Historical Jesus [audio lectures] by Qwill2in HistoryofIdeas

[–]Qwill2[S] 0 points1 point ago

Ah. Well, then these titles should be above criticism, at least. As far as I've come, he really tries to find the historical Jesus, explaining how as he goes along. He often repeats himself, which is not necessarily a bad thing when it's an audio lecture, as opposed to a book.

Do you study the history of Christianity, by chance?
