TROPHY CASE

My Latest Find. Calcite on Sphalerite (Gordonsville, TN) by Cleevin rockhounds

Wow, I'm jealous! All of these are beautiful. The idea of roadtripping across the US and rockhounding along the way is looking better every day. :P

Holy moly. I cannot describe my excitement at finding this today. by tiffnkin geology

Did you lick it? Because I probably would.

Female degus fighting (in heat?) by jamesinjapanin Degus

Yes, only putting one walnut in there is most definitely the reason. They will fight over the one treat, scream, try to rip it out of each other's mouths, chase one another, push the other(s) back, etc. You can get away with only giving one goo a treat so long as the other(s) are away and not paying attention, but if not, you have to give them all a separate treat or the shrieking goes on until everyone has finished the snack and over it. Next time, definitely put in two or crack one in half then put them in there to try and avoid the mini-brawls. Even so, if one finished before the other (or decided to bury it, or drop/leave it elsewhere), they might go and try to steal the other piece and the angry grunts and shrieking starts. They're such little monsters.
I've lived with twenty-two goos, nine of which are still alive with me, and it can get insanely hectic if I want to give them a snack, or else everyone starts screaming and are jealous that they don't have something yummy and so on. I have to make sure I have all if it in my hand and then quickly give everyone one to prevent the hollering (but usually there's a couple of large weep-weeps before everyone gets one or if someone walks past someone else).

The tote bag for the 2012 International Child Phonology Conference. Can you guess where it's gonna be? by pyryin linguistics

[–]Pokemen 0 points1 point ago

Same here but with Illinois, though I haven't been around the southern part of the state all that much. Even so, I doubt the conference would be there (in southern Illinois).

Edit: Well I looked it up and it is in Minneapolis.

Drunk post, sorry. Does anybody agree with me when I say that I think that the bunny mouth can only accurately be describes as the "mouf"? by WinnieMoufin Rabbits

[–]Pokemen 4 points5 points ago

I usually say "moufy" or "mouf", so I do agree.

In a simliar vein, basset hound ears can only accurately be described as "earsh".

I don't think my school cafeteria knows what vegan means... by tman2k4in vegan

I was at a Thai place and ordered a soup that was on the vegetarian menu, and was assured by the waiter that there was no egg, dairy, or other animal products in it, making it vegan. I went back a month later, and the waiter we had told us that the soups have fish sauce in them and the only vegan thing was the curry.

I've heard cooking dry ones with a dash of baking soda helps, but I've never tried it myself.

A fly flew into my eye the other day while I was riding my bike. I had to stop for a couple minutes after it happened because my eye started burning and I had to get his little body out of there. I felt so bad. Now I wear sunglasses.

Sand collection on ebay by littlejibin rockhounds

Star sand is the shells of these tiny little organisms and are generally star-shaped (hence the name). They're only found on two islands in Japan. Here's a picture of some. Also this.

Wow, that is amazing. All the colors and sizes. I wish they had a sharper image up so I could see more detail. If I had $1000+ to spend I would totally get that. I wonder if they have some star sand from Japan...

Watched this movie just about every day. by sleepyhead12in nostalgia

[–]Pokemen 2 points3 points ago*

I never saw it up until about two weeks ago. The only thing about the movie I really liked was Rufio, but I'm biased because it's Dante Basco. I just don't like anything Peter Pan related, so I couldn't get into it.
