I'm currently reading Avengers Reborn because I thought, "what the hell" and mother of god. It's completely non-sensical. I'm sorry but no. There is a whole state threatening to keep Obama off the ballot because his birth certificate hasn't been inspected 89 times and placed under an electron microscope to ensure accuracy. 45% of GOP voters don't think Obama was born in the US This has nothing to do with his policies whatsoever and everything to do with the fact that he's the first black president. I didn't hear anybody hounding McCain for his birth certificate even though he was born in Panama

Again, let me reiterate, you have yet to point out an example where a government has declared that since they don't believe in a god or gods, they're going to kill people. Atheism isn't a reason why the Soviet Union killed people any more than Stalin hating the Church's funny robes was a reason. You even admitted it yourself, Stalin, and Kim Jong Il wanted to be worshipped and they saw the Church as standing in their way. That's not really atheism, just a dictator being an asshole.

Actually Christians killed people because the Pope was by far the most influential ruler, essentially a totalitarian ruler. Before the church declared that witches must be burned, that the crusades must be performed.

Okay first of all, my original comment was a joke. Second, your argument is just about the dumbest argument I've ever read from someone on reddit. You seem to be confusing atheism with politics by claiming that governments that killed people and weren't Christian were automatically killing in the name of atheism. It's ridiculous. Saying that Stalin killed lots of people because he wasn't a Christian is like saying that he killed people because he had a mustache. The point is, none of those governments killed people in the name of atheism ie they never declared "we don't believe in a god therefore we're going to kill a bunch of people." They killed people and started wars for political reasons or because they wanted to expand their empire and eliminate enemies. Christians killed people for the same exact reason, but also because people didn't happen to believe in their god. That's the difference. Your ridiculous link doesn't seem to reflect any of that. Good job brushing off the millions killed by the Crusades, Inquisition, and witch trials though. I guess we have to give Christianity and the Church a pass since they're somehow in the minority of atrocities committed.
