So what will happen if a person of color goes? Will there be a riot? What about security?

This is my thinking. Plus it's a major international tournament, if racism was even an issue do they really think the local organizers are going to let any of that creep in when their countries reputation is on the line? It sounds like they are afraid for their lives.

That would be correct and the new testament specifically deals with why this is. I am not saying it's right but it's not a secret.

Ritual washing with running water was actually emphasized in the Torah. Orthodox Jews still use a thing called a 'Mikvah' which is bath with running water which must be used to return to a 'normal state of purity'. Bathing in it was required after sex, childbirth, after contact with a dead body and other germ producing events (but not all).

Christian-to-English dictionary: "Know in my heart" by antitheist33in atheism

Now bear with me for just a moment. As far as I can tell as humans on earth we have no single 'correct' teaching of truth but many. That is not to say that the concept of singular truth is wholly incorrect - there are situations when such a concept is correct but rather that on basic level there are many things, activities, ideas that we as humans can engage in that hold to a broader concept of truth, like a mulch-faceted diamond. Perhaps it is like art - what is truly 'correct' art? Science can be the pursuit of determining a certain kind of truth but as a human it is no less or more important than another discipline of truth - for example a fictional story. Despite the fact that these approaches are fundamentally in conflict we have a need for them to co-exist.

Well I'd like to point out that, yes actually Christians know that they are doing this. They are aware that they could live their lives using proof and logic etc. The fact is that they choose to rely on an intuition, faith etc they are proud of this fact because they believe that god exists on a higher plane that they can get in touch with using feelings. It may or may not make sense to live in this way but it's an idea. What is your idea? Is it better? How do you know?

Well because the skyline is a bit taller, the buildings look more modern. When I was kid, the Pearl building was really the landmark.

Yes it is real unfortunately. I left a year or so before things got so infamously out of hand so I am not really the right person to describe that side of things. I specialize more in the good ol' days. But I may consider it as people have the wrong idea about life in Africa. Mud huts and such..

It's largely made up of British ex-pats so things have tended towards the blander traditional foods what you would find in Britain today. The African community eat a largely sustenance, corn based diet - which they make into a kind of mashed potato dish which they eat by hand and dip into sauces and things. There is a fair amount of wild game available which is dried whole into a kind of jerky - I like it better though. The produce is wide ranging and is all excellent as is the local domestic meats. Lack of diversity but pretty great quality all round. When I was there there was some interest in African fusion food - largely game meat, ostrich, crocodile. Very similar to what you might expect from Australian food.

I guess that's pretty funny. I expected maybe 300 karma off this - that would be a really good response by my standards. It's definitely a change to have your mail box flooded with positive comments.

For sure the "When-wes" I was told about that. But it does make sense to me, although similar I find South Africa and Zimbabwe to be quite different.

Probably a combination of things. Zimbabwe is really chilled out place and the people are super friendly and open. It's semi-tropical so you get these magnificent afternoons and evenings when the weather is so perfect with just a little humidity - lots of colorful plants and mind blowing sunsets. There are just a lot of days where you feel like life cannot get anymore perfect. A real grounded feeling.

It's most likely the top of a pretty well known hotel in town.
