Thanks to this post, I now know that Michigan has a dark sky park! It's about a three hour drive to get there, but that would be totally worth a day trip to hit Mackinaw City and spend the night stargazing! Thank you, OP, and sorry for your situation. sad face

Oh, Mt. Pleasant. This is really crappy, but it doesn't surprise me that it's Sacred Heart. It's really unfortunate that the town that Central Michigan University is in, isn't as liberal as one would think, though it is far more liberal than some places, in my experience.

(Also, was really shocked to see something from my local paper appear on Reddit.)

I'm also in Michigan and am curious as to what area you live in? I'm in central Michigan, near Mt. Pleasant. Being a weekend thing, I unfortunately have work (except Sunday), but if it's close enough to me, I could potentially pop in every day for a few hours. :-D

So... the story is this: My friend Autumn and I were going up north (in Michigan) to go to a casino for my birthday. She really needed something to drink, so we stopped at a gas station (in the middle of NOWHERE) and this was outside by the front door. I just had to get a picture with this. Also: The look on my face is due to the fact that she snapped the picture while I was making sexy noises to the rabbit. haha

Of all the superstitious behaviors that people do, this is one that I actively do from time to time. Can't really explain why, but it's usually when I say something like, "I am a good driver. Ten years and wreck free. Go me!" I then proceed to knock on wood, as I just did. :-p I think it's only because making those kinds of statements seems to just tempt the universe. haha. No, I don't actually believe any of that, but I still do it anyway. :-\
