Welcome! The bus system is fantastic. I think in the summer they run every half hour (someone confirm this for me), all buses share a stop at the center of campus, either in front of Buruss Hall or Torgeson Hall. As far as getting to and from campus, the buses make it super easy. From campus you can get pretty much anywhere in Blacksburg (or downtown Christiansburg) using the bus system.

Honestly, thanks to the buses, you really won't miss not having a car very much (except when it rains, which it does often). In Blacksburg, activities include drinking downtown, seeing movies at the lyric, bowling or shooting pool at Squires Student Center, plus some random other minor stuff. If you go to Christiansburg they have a large movie theatre, a small mall, as well as walmart, barnes and noble, home depot, and a few other big chain stores. There is also a ton of hiking, biking, and rafting to do in the surrounding mountains, but all of those require someone to drive you.
