DeJa Vu with a cat- just like Neo by BezziVelinovin Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]NoodleWorm64 1 point2 points ago

I understand what you mean. To me, deja vu is, as you said, a feeling you get when you're sure that current, real time events have happened before. I don't get it with regularity, but it happens often enough...I definitely know the feeling. So I know why the whole matrix scene is frusterating to you, because that's not deja vu to me, either. If the first time Neo ever saw that cat, he felt "Whoa, this has happened before", that's what I call deja vu. It is feeling like something has happened before when you know it hasn't. In a case like OP's or Neo's, if I were in that situation, I'd be aware of the fact that this event just happened moments ago, and that it was repeating itself. I wouldn't be thinking "this has never happened before but I feel like it has!" Hope this all makes sense, haha.

This is really cool. I've read a couple stories like yours; moving house, in an completely empty room, only objects disappear, not randomly appear. There was one where a guy dropped a paintbrush he was carrying in an empty room and as soon as it hit the floor, it vanished before his eyes. What's fascinating to me about yours is the fact that those keys appeared before your eyes. What if...think of this...what if somewhere in the world, someone dropped their keys, and they vanished? What if in that very moment, they teleported to your empty room? May sound crazy, but I believe that it's possible.

I've done some reading on quantum physics for fun, and one physicist wrote about teleportation, and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and all that. He basically said that on the subatomic level, it is entirely possible for electrons to spontaneously "teleport" from one location to another. Since objects are, of course, composed of tons and tons of elementary particles--electrons among them--it is technically possible, abiding by the laws of physics, that every particle composing an object could spontaneously teleport at once. However, the probability of such a thing happening is so low that it might as well not even be possible. Apparently you'd have to wait around 14 billion years to even have the chance to see such a thing. BUT...it's not impossible. Very, very, very improbable, but not impossible. So I think that teleportation might be an explanation for your experience. Who knows where they came from? Either way, they ended up in your room.

TL;DR This reminds me of objects spontaneously disappearing in empty rooms...vanishing into thin air. From what we currently understand about physics, it is not impossible for objects to randomly, naturally teleport. The only issue is that the probability of such a thing happening is so insanely low that it might as well be impossible. But maybe your experience was an exception! Cool story.

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with you, under the assumption that this proposed friendship is the result of a mutual interest in all things nerdy and science. In which case, what's up, science-bff??

Oh, I wish I could! From what I've seen it's usually around $350 or more... unfortunately I can't afford that right now. But I definitely want to get some in the future!

I think I have this same Tauntaun! How about the Wampa figure that had a severable arm? That shit was intense.

Pokémon figures, Star Wars figures, Legos, Transformers, anything dinosaur related...these were some of my favorites. It is so hard to pin it down to one, but I've gotta say that Unicron is fucking awesome. I played with him all the time when I was younger...likewise with my big AT-AT, Millenium Falcon, etc.

Cross-overs were the best. My neighbor and I used to build Lego worlds and just annihilate them with transformers. Those were the days!

What strange/eerie things have happened to you? by razor-edgein AskReddit

[–]NoodleWorm64 42 points43 points ago

I've got one that has stuck with me for years.

When I was a high school freshman, I was frequently hospitalized for a health problem I've had all my life. Things were especially bad around then because I was going through puberty, thus causing my body to grow faster, which escalated my problems. I developed a cyst in my hip, right next to a nerve bundle. Doctors suggested that I undergo schlerotherapy to get rid of the cyst and end the pain; the only problem was that if anything went wrong during the procedure, my leg could have been crippled. So we thought about it and decided to take the chance and get the procedure done, but when the day came around, strange things started happening. That morning, a secretary called my mom and said that we would have to reschedule, because the surgeon was too sick to come in. It was the first time in the history of his job that he was ever that sick. So we rescheduled, and when, weeks later, that day came around, it happened again. At this point, my family and I got the feeling that I wasn't supposed to have that surgery done. I never did, and things got better on their own. It's a very eerie to think about; almost like it's more than a super coincidence. I always wonder how different my life would be if I had gotten that surgery...

A friend of mine goes to the same college as Mike from "Mike's Super Short Show". Apparently people point it out all the time and it bugs him; his sister went on to do much more than he did, I guess.

Reddit has really made me despise certain phrases such as "friend zone" and "forever alone". What has Reddit ruined for you? by oxygenvictimin AskReddit

[–]NoodleWorm64 0 points1 point ago

Reddit hasn't necessarily "ruined" anything for me, but there are things about it that do bother me. For one thing, I've seen a ton of comments in this thread about how annoying it is to always see posts with the same title, like "found this gem", etc. But for me, what's worse than that is the fact that, from my experience, if a post doesn't have an overused/expected title like that, it gets downvoted. I could post a picture of a cat peeking at the camera behind a doorway, and it wouldn't get half as much karma with a normal title like "Sneaky Kitty" as it would with what everyone expects: "SOON." Or what if I saw something cool or funny at the store, and titled it "Check this out!" instead of "Looks at this gem from blahblahblah"? It'd get downvoted for "not having a creative title." So that's annoying.

And the other thing is that /r/gaming makes me not want to play video games. Not literally, of course; I love video games. But so many of the posts there are fucking circlejerks over how much dick EA sucks, how amazing Valve is, how great Steam is, how much the ending of Mass Effect 3 blew, etc. etc., and it's really obnoxious. I'd like to go to a gaming subreddit to talk about how fun a game is, not how terrible the company that made it is.

This is really cool! Have you ever seen the Twilight Zone episode "Mirror Image"? Your experience reminded me of it. To give a breif summary, it's about a woman who is sitting around at a bus station, waiting for her bus, and she starts seeing herself everywhere. She goes into the bathroom, looks in the mirror, and as the bathroom door is closing behind her, she sees herself sitting where she was just moments earlier. She goes to get her baggage, and the man at the desk says "I gave it to you ten minutes ago!" Her baggage was simultaneously behind the desk and by the bench she was sitting at. In the end she concludes that every person on earth has a twin from another reality that occasionally shows his/her face in our own.

I'm not sure what happened to you that night, but it definitely made me think of this! Personally, I don't necessarily think that there are thousands of "parallel universes" where we have clones of ourselves running amuck, but I think that every time we make a choice, or take action, in essence we create multiple "realities". These choices and actions don't have to be life changing or anything, but they just have to affect where we'd be and what we'd be doing. Think about this for a moment: You're drving to work. You usually take the highway, but today you decided to take the backroads. So you're finding your way around town, and have all these different choices of which way to turn, and what's there to see. Maybe you decide to skip work and just drive around all day. Or maybe you get lost, take a wrong turn and get into an accident. What if that accident breaks your legs? What if, by overcoming this tragedy, you become a beacon of hope to others in pain, and go on to become a motivational speaker? Just like that, a simple decision of which way you're taking to work created a whole bunch of different "realities"; some where you're just doing your job as normal, others where you're a public speaker. I know, it's a little out in left field, but thats the way I look at it.

Bringing all that to relevence, imagine if, for some reason, you got called into work the night before. Just as you walk in, you see Jessica, dressed in pink, cleaning the tables, and ask her if you need to make coffee. Although this never actually happened, it could have happened. Maybe you had a glimpse into this other "reality" of what could have been..even if you weren't aware of all the different possibilities. Crazy, I know, but anything is possibile, I suppose!!

TL;DR This reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode where a woman keeps seeing a mirror image of herself everywhere. She thinks that there are clones of each of us in parallel universes that sometimes show their faces in our own. Although I'm not sure about the whole "parallel universe" thing, I think that every choice we make can lead to a different "reality", and that perhaps, in situations like OP's, we can catch a glimpse of things that could have been reality if we had been in a different place at a different time.
