What did school teach you that was blatantly false once you researched it on the Internet? by peetssin AskReddit

[–]Mushbroom 0 points1 point ago

In my opinion, this is in no way proven, synthetic weed is Incredibly addictive. My friends and I agreed if it hadn't been made illegal, nothing would have stopped us from smoking it. And we were spending $30-$60 on it a day and when we stopped we were all complaining of headaches and bad anxiety. So glad that shit's illegal.

Yesterday was KC's annual Hula Hoop Day in the Park. Here's my video from it! by Mushbroomin Hooping

KC has a weekly spin jam too :) Hoop day in the park is a much bigger event and people of all kind attend. Children, jugglers, poi spinners, ravers, etc. There was about 400 people there this year. And no problems that I know of but I'm not directly involved, I hope to be next year though :)

What's something you wish your parents had taught you more about to prepare you for life? by Mushbroomin AskReddit

If you go into it thinking it's going to blow up in your face, that's precisely what it will do. It's true, 99% of people don't marry their first SO, but you should look at your first few relationships as fun guidelines and lessons. You'll get a feel for what you want and don't want in a relationship, what works and what doesn't with you. They're certainly not pointless and you will make some great memories with them.

And don't worry about ending up like your parents. My parents were not affectionate whatsoever and argued a bit. I knew very young that they were total opposites and I didn't understand how they were together. Now I'm engaged to the love of my life and we are Nothing like them :) Sometimes parents are the perfect example of how Not to act.

If there is I will get it removed :D Luckily her whole side of the family is Italian so I've had amazing pasta and meatballs from other members but my mom can't even make a frozen pizza right.

Agreed, my fiance's dad can talk his way out of anything, he bargains with people, he charms them into letting him get done what he needs to get done. I wish I had those skills for sure.

Yeah I went out of high school as an all A's honor student and straight into computer engineering with no prior training whatsoever. My parents said "she loves the computer, she'll be great at it!" and the councilor said I could handle the course she set up, so I believed it! I was in physics 1 and had no idea what the fuck I was doing, C++ went right over my head, everything did. The only class I wasn't failing was english, and having thought I could do this, and having that shatter in front of me, I was stunned and had no idea what I was doing with my life anymore...so I dropped out. 4 years later and I can't find a job and still have no idea what I'd go to school for if I did. I had so much hope vaporize, no wonder I'm a cynic now.

My mom was too embarrassed and bought me a book about it. As embarrassed as I was to receive that book, I was really grateful to have it when I started puberty. That sucks you were left in the dark!! I think parents should have to suck it up and explain things that make them uncomfortable.

Until the credit card company sends you a notice stating you have 40 days to close your account and pay off your account or your interest sky rockets to 30%. It's called a "change in terms" and they can send them out any time for no reason and they go out in the thousands.

Or someone gets a hold of your card and maxes out your balance then you have to fight with fraud to remove it, which they don't always do, and then your monthly payments are too much to afford so you go on a payment plan to lower your monthly payment, which we tell you isn't going to hurt your credit, but it actually ruins it because it's being reported as past due every month to the credit unions.

Or you call into customer service and you unknowingly agree to a "credit protector" service which charges you monthly. They tell you it's a free trial, you say 'fine' assuming after it's run it's course, it's gone, but no, if you don't cancel it in a certain time it starts charging you and we can't refund those charges because it's a third party company we've just given all your information to and they refuse to refund.

There's all kind of stupid little shit they do that can mess you up intentionally, but even mistakes can go unfixed even if they were our fault. We had a 'bank error' and that payment plan that was helping you while you're on unemployment because the economy crashed is now cancelled? Sorry, you're shit out of luck. Perhaps you've gotten lucky. And it's true, a lot of people shouldn't get cards because they have no self control, but in my line of work I saw so many good, innocent people get royally fucked, even after years of perfect payment history and credit.

I almost said cooking but went with finances. But cooking is a close second. My mom's the only Italian I know who can't cook worth a damn and never taught me anything but how to cook an egg over easy. My dad's not bad but didn't/doesn't want to put any time into teaching me.

Plus that's dangerous!! I want my kid to know what they're doing and be good at it so they're in less danger than they already are being a new driver. I had to get into 3 pretty bad accidents before I got my shit together.

Budget. Google how to do it. Google tips on how to be frugal, too.

Oh and cannot stress this enough, NEVER GET A CREDIT CARD. Ever. I'm serious, don't fucking get one. I worked for a large credit card company for 2 years and they are nothing but a Very successful scam. Their only goal is to fuck you in the ass and take all your money and then some. They are a business, they make a huge profit, and they can fuck you up for life by ruining your credit, not helping it. You can gain credit other ways if you want to.

Not sober but it's not like we were out of our minds, just out of it enough to make nearly 10 really stupid mistakes
