A normal diet is 2,000 calories though, this is less than half of that. How about eat 2,000 and burn 2500?

Edit: this study was basically a controlled semi-starvation. It doesn't mention anything about teaching the subjects how to make healthy choices about their diet, it just put them on an extreme calorie restriction. Fucking stupid method yields poor result. Nothing surprising.

Furthermore, the lab efforts simply "got" them to a goal weight, and then they were sent to "start working to maintain it." crash diets don't work, this isn't new information.

I disagree. Not all degrees are tedious. Some can be quite interesting, but unless you are studying business, premed, prelaw, engineering, the degree doesn't necessarily qualify you for shit. A history degree could be fascinating for some people, but has little transfer into the real world.

It isn't, the problem is that most people aren't as progressive as Theil. A degree (even in something as meaningless as communications) is a prerequisite for most "career" path jobs. It is going to take some time for the next generation who realizes this to get into power and not require degrees. In my lifetime for sure, but we aren't there yet.
