I just ran into Lewis Black at the QFC at Pike & Broadway by jennifurretin Seattle

He was on the show way more often when Kilborn was the host. Back in Black was an almost weekly segment.

Worst part of the Daily Show, by far.

EDIT: I get this same reaction whenever I discuss this on Reddit. I just think he was more of a fit for the show when Kilborn was the host. His curmudgeonly, brash style just doesn't fit with the current show's format.

The humor on TDS now is very sharp and witty. His humor is very predictable and the level of predictability of any of his punchlines is directly proportional to the volume at which it's delivered. He uses yelling as a replacement for actual comedy.

One of the only companies I don't mind sending me emails. They always have great 24-48 hour deals, like all 8x10s half off or 40 4x6 prints free for 24 hours.

Questions about the WAPS test. I'm going for Staff. by JoeYoungerin AirForce

[–]MrShow 0 points1 point ago

Oh, so ATC is just such a long tech school that by the time you finished your new afsc's school, you are already testing for staff? Interesting.

Also, I had some retrainee NCO come into my shop and when they tested PFE only, the were scored against all others who were PFE only - not against people in their new career field.

So it's as if non-SKT testers are all one career field and they compete against each other.

As far as what the cutoffs are, that I don't know.

Any idea how the heck i do this i have the exact same setup and ive failed 3 nights in a row by JamesBlonde333in photography

Well that depends on what hemisphere you're in.

You have a certain amount of time on station before you need to file a family care plan (if one is required.) I want to say it's 60 days, but don't quote me on that. That time is meant to help set up those contacts.

Not sure what else you're looking or as far as advice. Whether you should stay in or not? You say it's been rough overall, you mean your time in the Air Force has? Or this PCS to Nellis?

It's hard to give advice if we don't know the specifics of what you're asking.

Questions about the WAPS test. I'm going for Staff. by JoeYoungerin AirForce

[–]MrShow 0 points1 point ago

Factoid - The test you take for WAPS testing is not called the PDG. It's still called PFE - Professional Fitness Exam. We used to get a study book called the PFE Study Guide and people shortened the name of the book to PFE and the name of the book and the test were used interchangeably.

So when the name of the study guide changed to the Professional Development Guide, or PDG, people started calling the test, The PDG - since we used the books and the test name interchangeably before, it sounded right to continue doing it. But it's not.

tl;dr, the test never changed names, just the study guide did.

Also, how does one wash out of one's old AFSC?

Reserves by mjr1084in AirForce

[–]MrShow 0 points1 point ago

When I went to basic 9 years ago, a reservist in my flight went split option and he showed up at tech school about 3 months after I was already there.

So, unless things have changed, there's a split option.

I don't live in Seattle. I'll be moving there soon - that's why I subscribed to this subreddit.

I thought there was just some Seattle-centric joke that goes along with this.

Just found out I'm going to Ramstein AFB. What should I know before I get there, and what kind of things are there to do? by Tevisrocksin AirForce

[–]MrShow 0 points1 point ago

It's hard to explain. Just being overseas is a new experience. Little things like how door knobs look on people's houses will be interesting to you. How the windows have these shades that completely block out all the light in a house - it's new and weird.

Getting to live overseas is a great experience. Take advantage of it.

No sense in planning a must see/do list now. There will be plenty of time when you get there to see a lot. Look into the USO tours - you'll see the little pamphlets everywhere. If you don't want to go on a tour, just use the trips as inspiration and go on your own.

Oktoberfest is an obvious one.

Man, I miss it. I want to go back.

[Air Force] Question about MEPS/DEPS & Post 9/11 GI Bill by schwanstabiloin AirForce

[–]MrShow 2 points3 points ago

This doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about it to contradict it.

Explain why he doesn't want the Post 9/11. Post 9/11 is the one that gives you E-5 with-dependent rate BAH when you go to school.

Why would he want regular MGIB if he's looking for BAH when he's in school?
