Is Anno 2070 worth it? by slosprintin Games

[–]Moral_Turpitude 4 points5 points ago

I will not speak to the DRM issue. That said, I adore this game. I spent a lot of time playing the old Sierra city-builders (Caesar III, Emperor, Pharaoh) and this game is the first in a while to really have the same feel. There are distinct differences of course, but if that mostly economical game feel is what you're going for, I highly recommend Anno 2070 (I never played the others). Also, it's gorgeous. I say go for it! I got about 80 hours out of it, but I will probably go back some day.

DAE breathe in, then breathe out? by teknoprisonersin circlejerk

[–]Moral_Turpitude 0 points1 point ago

Actually, I breathe out then in, showing a refreshing teenage abandon. Honestly, I just don't understand why other people do things differently. Notice in that previous sentence how I framed my incredulity at the rest of the world's wrongness as my own ignorance, so that I look like less of a dick. I am still a dick.

The Superior Human? (2012) is the first documentary to systematically challenge the common human belief that humans are superior to other life forms by TimHjerstedin Documentaries

[–]Moral_Turpitude 6 points7 points ago

Ugh. I don't necessarily disagree with the premise, but the narrator's tone/word choice/overall style really bothered me. I got about 15 min in, so I'll probably come back to it.

She should change it to something friendlier like "Lord High Chancellor" or "Executrix."

Liberal and radical feminists can and must find common ground on pornography by jamiesw89in Feminism

[–]Moral_Turpitude 2 points3 points ago

But what if those consensual portrayals engender an acceptance of non-consensual sexual violence by eroticizing it in porn? Sure, the actress is okay with it, but if the scene is framed so as to eroticize/fetishize her lack of control, isn't that a problem?

For the record, I don't think I have an answer. Shit's complicated, just playing the devil's advocate to your point.

[–]Moral_Turpitude 3 points4 points ago

It seems, at cat-astrophe explained, that people being choked or smacked or what have you, is not the issue. Deriving eroticism from smacking women who are demonstrating (however theatrically) that they are not consenting is what is problematic. That is the divide, as I understand it.

If a safe, temporary libido-depressing drug was on the market, would you ever use it? Would you have used it, say, in high school? by Jasperodusin MensRights

[–]Moral_Turpitude 0 points1 point ago

There would probably be a feminist uproar if that drug came out available on prescription. I'm talking civil disobedience street riots.

Could you elaborate on this please? I don't think I understand fully the point you were making here.
