Agreed. By the way, about your earlier comment about not having Borderland Ranger but still going 3 colors: I had 2 abundant growth and a vessel of endless rest; not exactly poor mana fixing.

Yeah, I realized my mistake not playing Howlgeist. He's a monster, and I sided him in every game along with Narstad Scrapper. EVERY SINGLE DECK, EVERY SINGLE GAME, I played against Heirs of Stromkirk. It was insane. I should've gone 3-1 but I made some fateful mistakes in Round 3, Game 2. Never again.

Because Liliana isn't really a good card turn 1. Pretty bad actually, am I right? And a turn 1 birds into turn 2 Garruk Primal Hunter won't win you any games, thats for sure. Also, Phyrexian Crusader would have rotated by the time this got released; even still, if I could magically play with an extra block, I'd choose Glissa over Crusader any day.

This card would be busted beyond recognition dude.

Jund midrange; a little concoction I've been working on. It utilizes control aspects in synergy with ramp to help slow the game down, until eventually it can stick a big threat. So far I have a fantastic match up against Frites, decent against Delver post sideboard, and a good one versus wolf run. I think fast aggro will give me trouble in the form of humans and tokens, but I don't hate those matches either. Solar Flare loses pretty hard, too. Zombies will probably be one of the harder matches for me, but it's not really seeing any play in my area.

I too have made good friends in my local area; some of which I never would've thought. I'm actually going to the SCG Open in Worcester with a group of them.
The critical thinking point hits it dead on; this is what I was going to say if nobody had mentioned it in the comments. Not only do plays in game improve this, but tuning a deck to fit what you need it to. I just recently built a deck from scratch that's performing well beyond any other deck I've built before, and all because I put effort and thought into each and every decision.
Budget? What's a budget? Like, my collection of Magic cards is so large you couldn't budge it? No really though, I've had to try really hard not to spend too much money on this game, especially since I'm not really in a position yet to receive too much return on my investments.

Here's to many more years of Magic and all its benefits!

No, I was playing Storm and couldn't finish my combo. Since my turn had gone on so long, my opponent was probably doing something else. It was the last game of the match and I was only at 2 life and he had lethal on board. I just saved us some time lol

It's a conversation; this person is trying to establish some type of connection with you, not study details about your life. That's the basis of a relationship, is chemistry. That's why the little OKC symbol is a beaker, feel me?

If you can memorize someone's profile information, cool; I'm sure you'll have a lot to pull from when you're talking to them. Sometimes, though, it's just better to go with the flow. Copying and pasting something straight out of your profile seems like a lazy solution. It bothers you that they're not making any effort, and then you show no effort, and then both of you think the other one doesn't care enough to work at getting to know each other.

I was playing Storm in Modern and hit a wall. The only cantrip I had was Gitaxian Probe, and I knew I had lost since I only had 2 life and no win condition. So instead of passing the turn and waiting forever for the guy to come back I just ended the match as a courtesy.

MTGO costs what youre willing to put into it. If youre a winning player, though, you can potentially make your investment back through winning records in tournaments.

What I've always wondered is why Festerhide Boar (and to a much lesser extent, Gravetiller Worm) haven't seen play at all. Sure, they don't DO anything when they hit the board, but if you used Pod to fetch them they will always activate Morbid and be fat trample creatures. Surely there's got to be a time where grabbing a 5/5 with trample is good?

The question is, do you want to be giving a guy like this business? Do you want him to be able to take advantage of others as he did with you? This is a matter of doing the greater good; if you can't get him to be honest, it's better to stop him from destroying the community.
