People will probably think this is horrible, but roadside crosses to remember family that died in car wrecks. Look, it's sad that your family member died there, but I nor you should be reminded of this every time we pass that area. It's horribly inconsiderate to force me, a random member of society, to stare at a white cross with "Big Sis" or some other name on it when I go to and from work.

Plus, it's not healthy for the family, either. You gotta move on and do things day to day or else you'll never get past the loss. Having a constant reminder only makes it harder. If you want to honor a family member, that's what cemeteries are for, yet sadly, most people never go to cemeteries but to put someone in the ground.
