I think a great TV/web show would be a pair of slightly intoxicated comedians doing commentary over popular films of yesteryear. Agree/disagree? by Lextuckyin AskReddit

[–]Lextucky[S] 0 points1 point ago

Yes, but instead of obscure older films, these would be famous films and the comedians could possibly be changed out from one episode to the next. Seems like a win-win for comedians looking to up their profile and content owners looking to promote their old products.

With state revenues down by $351 million, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie still wants tax cuts for the rich that will cost the state $1.3 billion a year. by LaBamba00in politics

The best I can find is this median income chart http://money.cnn.com/news/storysupplement/economy/income_by_state/index.html

But that doesn't really tell you what percentage of the states' earners are million+ per year. Maryland may just have a stronger middle class here.

Very helpful. My searches have been fruitless so far on finding information on EARNERS in either state, which is the point here more so than acquired wealth.

Interestingly, the population of Virginia is only about 30% more than Maryland, but in 2010 they had 166,596 millionaires. Even accounting generously for outliers, there's a systemic issue here. Maryland taxes higher than Virginia but shares a metropolitan area, DC. The same is true in my home state, Kentucky, where many people reside and commute to Ohio while avoiding the higher taxes across the river.

Anyone consider that attracting high income New Yorkers/Connecticutters(?) to pay lower taxes in New Jersey could increase the overall revenue? Also, retain wealthy New Jersey residents who might otherwise flee?

TIL that Eric Bischoff challenged Vince McMahon to a match at Slamboree '98. McMahon no-showed so he was counted out giving Bischoff the win. WCW was dead less than 3 years later. by FreeWillinin SquaredCircle

Yeah that music wasn't used until the Corporation formed some months later, I think actually closer to RR '99. Why did they feel the need to put in his music? I realize Buffer owns his content, but why the music...

Barkley was Truman's vice-president in his second term, a few years after this was taken. He was a major figure at the time.

How does a left-libertarian society tackle the environmental issue? by CMAN1995in LibertarianLeft

[–]Lextucky 15 points16 points ago

This does seem a big sticking point that keeps most left-leaners away from outright libertarianism.

To me, mass poisoning is well within the government's responsibility to prevent.

I think a great deal of right leaning libertarians act like industrialization didn't vastly change the social contract. But it did, and this is a perfect case.
