AskScience, would I be safe from a Tsunami if I swam 30 feet below the surface with SCUBA gear? by Wingserin askscience

Nitrogen, not laughing gas. Also, if you were to ascend from, say, 30 ft to surface level in 2 seconds, you would probably rupture your lungs from not being able to exhale the compressed air quickly enough.

What hard truth does Reddit need to hear? by TheJungleVIPin AskReddit

[–]KingNothing 4 points5 points ago

In all honesty, and I don't mean to sound like a dick, but reddit had already started going downhill by the time you joined 4 years ago. Wasn't that around the time of the Digg invasion?

People keep saying you need to work your subreddits to make reddit worthwhile... maybe someone can share with me the set of subreddits that have the depth and breadth of discussion from 6 years ago. Feel free to PM it to me if you don't want all of the plebes in on it.

Depends on the city. Most of Berlin's trains, for example, run every 10 minutes. If you're going across the city, there are 3 lines on the same set of tracks, leading to a train every 3-4 minutes in peak hours. I didn't even bother to look at a schedule when I lived there.

Unfortunately, the fragmentation in the Android marketplace will be its downfall for developers. I don't develop for Android for exactly that reason. On iOS, I can write code once and it will work for the entire market; the same is not true on the Android platform. You have to deal with physical keyboard vs virtual, many different screen sizes, vendors who restrict the OS version and, by extension, the features you can use.

Android is great, don't get me wrong, but something else will come along and destroy the iPhone.

Parents had a 30+ year old set of Chicago Cutlery knives. It was a standard knife set including a knife block, and all of the handles were made of wood. I decided to test their lifetime warranty policy. Googled for an 800 number, called it, talked to a rep who wanted the item number and other info. I said it was at least 30 years old and didn't have any markings on it other than giant Chicago Cutlery stamps on the block and each of the knives. She shipped me a brand new set of knives, with more than the old set, and asked that I return the old one with the pre-paid shipping label.

Go Chicago Cutlery!

It's plenty competitive, but Apple has a device above and beyond the rest. Give it 10 years and something else will be king, guaranteed.

If you're legitimately living in a trap house, you need to do whatever it takes to move across the country, cut ties with everyone you know from that life, and get a fresh start.

It's on the western side of the country and seems like it would be easy to take a couple of short trips to neighboring countries. No particular reason for that city specifically other than location.
