What type and amount of food a person eats is as much out of habit as it is anything else. Over a lifetime, it's better that, every time someone (especially people prone to weight gain), do not make a habit of eating more shit food (french fries) than is necessary to sate a craving, simply because the food is there, sitting in front of them. This is something many people are prone to doing.

If I were to order a full serving of fries every time I wanted them, I would gain more than 1/10 of a pound, I assure you. I don't know where that number came from. It is better I satisfy the craving modestly by eating a few fries, and make THAT a habit, than it is to make a habit of ordering however many fries my lizard brain wants. That's part of how obesity happens.

Because a.) If I ordered fries every time I wanted them, I'd be the fattest load ever, b.) If restaurants sold, like, six fries (like a "Just a Bite" option, not unlike shotglass desserts that have become a thing at some restaurants) for 75 cents, I WOULD just buy them and c.) generally I haven't gotten huge complaints about it when I seagull a fry or two from a boyfriend or brother's plate, nor do I complain if someone does the same to me. No big.

I mean, if it’s your girlfriend or something, aren’t you just supposed to be nice and let her have a few fries? Or anticipate her wanting a few, and order a larger size, if it bothers you? Some girls will try to be “good” at the drive thru, but it’s hard not to have just a bite when it’s right in front of you. I promise they’re not taking as many fries as the lizard-portion of their brains are telling them to take, so why is this a huge deal? She likely puts up with little annoying habits of yours... People are human. I let people have bites of my food all the time, and I’m a lady. It’s not that big a deal.

I get mucoceles often, and this…would be a highly unusual mucocele. A mucocele is more like a small blister or canker sore, easily taken care of. Soft and harmless. This…I…would honestly just go to a doctor...

I offered to buy a homeless man anything he wanted.... this is what he got... by Brumehin pics

[–]JLContessa 2 points3 points ago

The debate on how to treat the homeless aside, it breaks my heart when grown men love sweets, or have a favorite dessert they get really enthusiastic about (consumed in moderate amounts, of course). I have no idea why. It’s like one of the purest forms of little kid enjoyment, and reminds me that once they were seven years old, and their moms would give them a buck to go buy a slushee at the Kum & Go during the summer.

I don’t know why I have such a powerful response to something so weird, but I do.

What's the biggest non-sexual benefit of having a girlfriend/boyfriend? by littlebalooneyin AskReddit

I’m sure this sounds bitchy, but DEAR GOD that is disgusting! And in public! I have never let anyone EVER do that for me, and that includes my mother. IMO, that’s just one of those things you do yourself if you’re still physically capable.

I’ve owned cats my entire life, and not one of them has freaked out like that. About anything. Seems to me, if a cat is that angry, someone was provoking him/her.

Reddit, what is the worst thing your significant other has ever said to you - intentionally or not? by wskrsin AskReddit

For the sake of the learning, am I to assume this word is pronounced: null-IH-pah-rus? I don’t know how to do IPA on my computer.

Same could be said for guys not seeing how bitchy their girlfriends are. Human weaknesses are just that: human. Insecurity and doubt, and poor decisions made as a result are not reserved solely for one gender or the other.

I am fluent in Latin. What are some completely useless things you've learned? by Samamaniacin AskReddit

[–]JLContessa 0 points1 point ago

I don’t feel being fluent in Latin is useless, especially if you have a capacity for science, or are interested in language in general. While it’s a “dead” language, it really is a useful resource, I think.

Reddit, as a classical musician, tell me what we could do better. What is it about classical music that keeps you away from our concerts? by a12345678910in AskReddit

[–]JLContessa 0 points1 point ago

To anyone saying that classical music is “too snobby” and “too expensive,” I want to let you know that there are smaller companies aiming to combat this very problem! I’m on the administration of an opera company in Chicago, and one of our biggest goals is bringing in younger people, and trying to communicate to them how opera can be seriously enjoyable, and not the activity of the posh and rich as it has always been portrayed.

If you want to hear fantastic classical music and avoid the old stereotypes, try looking in more obscure places. There are plenty of educated, skilled musicians who are trying to make their way creatively, and are doing so by targeting your specific audience by addressing your specific needs.

Not to be a bummer, but not all marriages are based on love in our culture, not to mention other cultures. There are some cultures whose marriages have little to nothing to do with sex. "Marriage" does not mean the same thing across the board.

What is the worst thing you have ever "walked in on"? by J-TEEin AskReddit

[–]JLContessa 0 points1 point ago

What I don’t understand is why your mother felt the need to get it out of you that you were fapping. Why did she care?? Why must she know?? She should probably have just assumed you were, and not give a crap, as long as you weren’t jazzing in the shampoo bottles or leaving sploogey nast on the shower floor or something.

Safari changed “jizzing” to “jazzing,” and I decided I prefer it.

[–]JLContessa 0 points1 point ago

You do, really. If you don’t, it’s because you got lucky.

Men who are jerks don’t act that way right away. They treat you very nicely to draw you in, flattered by their manners and dedication/persistence in getting your attention. At this point you’ve fallen for them, and labeled them as a “nice guy,” like the type you told yourself you want to find. They gradually let their ugliness out, a snide remark here, an immature bout of relentless moodiness there, which you explain away, telling yourself to be kind, and that everybody has off-days.

The off-days become more and more frequent. Then the norm. Then you think “Once he’s under less stress from work/his family/whatever, ‘Nice Kevin’ will come back.” Only “Nice Kevin” never comes back, because “Nice Kevin” was an act, a ploy used to trap a girl who just wanted to find someone to love, who would treat her well. Every jerk I’ve ever met had me convinced, at the time I agreed to date him, through a dedicated concealment of his assholery, the he was, truly, “A Nice Guy.” I was not attracted to these men thinking they were “Bad Boys.” I liked them because I thought they were truly nice and good.

The “Not-Frogs” out there, I can only assume don’t speak up or aren’t into me. That’s just the way it seems to work out. For me. Until now. I hope!

Seriously!

We had been bickering throughout the day, as had become the norm. He complained about what time I got home (from work/school, which took up a lot of my time), what time we went to bed because it took me a while to wind down after work (also, I wasn’t “allowed" to stay up while he went to sleep, in part because he assumed it meant I was sexting guys on Facebook, or generally doing other things of which he did not approve). He complained about when I ate, when I worked, when I woke up, when I slept, who I was with, EVERYthing he could think of, he’d complain about.

My response became “Yeah, ok,” and then continuing to do what I wanted, while silently resenting him for his constant berating, and refusal to listen to any sort of reasoning or explanation.

That particular night, I’d had it, and ended up not wanting to have sex. He became angry and said a handful of bitter things, one of which was my original post.

He was just a bundle-o-joy at times, really.

Perfect timing. by lukas5150in pics
