The wood. Old paint had it. Most of the danger is when stripping off the old paint though and preparing it right could make it safer (it isn't, it is just stained it looks like). But that stuff will have been soaked into the wood long ago making sandings dangerous.

Also all pressure treated wood has arsenic but they use to put a ton more in it. It helps with pest control as it is poison. This is why you should never burn pressure treated lumber or old lumber in a camp fire.

Now the old pipes are the dumbest thing. They very likely have lead in the metal (or are lead cause it is cheap) to make them easier to thread. This why old pipes are replaced in homes. It was very common to use lead pipes for easy threading. Hope no one with this desk has a small child that might nibble on it.

This is why when you buy furniture it has that under penalty tag. So you know it has safe contents. This does not.

It won't do anything to males unless sustained and has to be high dosage. My dumb brother once ate all my moms birth control pills. Dad freaked out and called poison control.
