Humor me, r/DC, if you please. I'm looking for bars with jukeboxes and/or dartboards. Where can I go? by antipioneerin washingtondc

Haha, yeah things tend to get a bit weird after I've had a few drinks. Dan's definitely brings that behavior out.

Personally, the jukebox at Dan's Cafe in Adams Morgan trumps all. It's a really old-school type of jukebox, sorta run down looking but it's endearing. It's mostly full of classic rock, 80's music, and blues. GREAT selections. I got drunk one time and paid to play the entire "Rumors" album by Fleetwood Mac. No one even batted an eye. Great crowd there.

It sounds like you're sorta looking to seek out dive bars instead of the typical, upscale wine/beer place or club. If so, Dan's is definitely a good choice. I recommend either starting or ending the night there as it can get sort of crowded during the middle.

It's also useful for noting that by "spreading the density" DC is watering down its tax base. Some of the more dense areas that have sprung up in response to economic pressures are actually outside of the District, costing the city enormously in tax revenue. The Friendship Heights area immediately comes to mind as does Rosslyn, Clarendon, Ballston, etc etc etc.

What do you mean by our "Moneyball revolution"? I assume you mean a complete re-thinking of the way politics is handled among both policymakers and the greater public, but what form would this take? Are we talking about a structural change (i.e. shift in the way policy is made) or something more esoteric and abstract?

I've always been curious about your thoughts on the media surrounding your rise to pseudo-fame and your reaction to the whole "wunderkind" label. Specifically, what did you think about the New York Times article written about you, Dave Weigel, Matt Yglesias, Brian Beutler, etc?

My roommate uses very nice Wusthoff knives, but he never ever EVER sharpens them. They almost don't cut anymore, but he just hacks away at things instead of sharpening the damn thing.

Not if you live and work in the city. Pain in the butt to try to get to VA just for Chick-fil-a.

I live in Georgetown and work on Capitol Hill, so there aren't any really near me for lunch stuff. I could drive, but all the nearby one's are in malls with no drive-thrus. I know I'm quibbling, but it's sometimes more trouble than its worth to drive out to Virginia, find parking, then walk into a mall just for Chick-fil-A.

I know there are some sort of nearby, but I all the one's I know of are inside malls and have no drivethrus. I live in Georgetown, so to take public transit out there would take ages. I know I could find parking, but it's just a lot more trouble than it's worth to do that sometimes.

I just wish there was a nice drive-thru somewhere nearby, haha.

Chick-Fil-A. It is so tragic that I moved to damn Washington, DC, and there are no nearby real Chick-Fil-As.

Former GOP candidate Jon Huntsman dropped out of high school to form and tour with a progressive rock band, actually. He might not be president now, but I'd give him a strong chance for the future.

He also is a BMX racer. Very cool guy.

This is sort of true, though maybe not as much anymore. During the height of the Clinton presidency, yes.

The Clintons are known to be some of the most ruthless politicians in DC even now. They notoriously prize loyalty over almost anything and carry grudges for life. For example, during the Clinton presidency, Hilary did everything she could to protect Chelsea Clinton and her childhood. If a reporter was too invasive or wrote nearly anything about Chelsea, he/she was excommunicated from the inner circle for life. The same goes for political acquaintances. If you look at who the Clinton's are closest with, it has been the same core group ever since roughly 1992. And these individuals still will not speak ill of the Clintons.

Super cute. I'm really digging the short hair and your eyes are beautiful. Also, I love that little dot on your nose. I think it's what super models call a "beauty mark", and it's really endearing.
