what version to use? by someone-do-somethingin hoggit

I promise, I'll fly blue next time. They do seem to have a rougher time if it, though you did take control of the area a few times.

I have Lagavulin at home. One thing I haven't had yet is Talisker, so maybe some of that.

I really wanna try a Springbank. I suspect that will be on my short list.

While it'd be nice to try some real large-scale stability testing of missions in 1.1.2.1, we've mostly been flying on A-10 missions on 1.1.1.1.

That said, Iron has built up a derptastic A-10s vs P-51s vs SU-25s vs Ka-50s that's fun as hell in 1.1.2.1. Basically, hop on TS and find out if you're looking for people. It'd be good to have both installed.

Seriously. If friends were a requirement to lead, I'd never get anybody to do what I tell them.

Neither would Iron.

Lemme rephrase then:

Yup. My fault. Nothing to do with you saying you were going to bed at 11:30 and writing the post at 3am.

Looking for some general combat engagement rules, hints and tips. JTAC or otherwise. by Twisted-Biscuitin hoggit

  • As others have said, the weapon is a secondary thing. If they ask for a gunrun with manpads in the area, you're probably going home in a truck, not your airplane. It is always at the discretion of the pilot what ordnance he releases for a given attack.
  • This depends on the mission. On some missions, stingy ordnance management is key, on others, having each plane get rid of it all and RTB for more is the better option. Delivering ordnance on targets is always better than flying back to base with it though. That said, I never jettison ordnance except in emergency situations.
  • What you're talking about here is really a strike or interdiction type mission. In those cases, it's really about getting to the destination, finding your targets, eliminating them, and RTB. Often, the allocation of ordnance to tailpipes will be IN the mission briefing, esp. in the case of special ordnance like heavy AGMs (G/K) or 2000 pounders. Otherwise, if there's a JTAC in the area, he's most useful for finding targets that you can't.
  • As others have said, CAP/SEAD flights generally won't be operating in the FAC(A) role. SEAD is generally a specific strike mission, CAP is too busy looking for air contacts to worry about what's going on with the ground pounders. The F10 menu is generally just an options menu for mission designers to give various options to pilots. It can also be used for interaction for AI, but even FAC(A)s will show up in the JTAC menu and in terms of the game, will behave exactly the same way as any other JTAC.

I'll think of some more helpful stuff a bit later I hope.

If I was to guess, Phoenix rolled over when his wing was about 2 feet forward of Woohoo's.

You left out the part for "Why is this an important maneuver in the A-10C?"

The answer, is because it's damned cool to watch.

Did we ever figure out why your plane was handling like ass? I think I saw you getting repaired at Maykop, was something broken?

All of this is in the TNN thread, but I decided it deserves it's own post.

Aggressive maneuvering to avoid a collision

That reminds me, need to add a note to wingman responsibilities.

Those are Blackley's shots, not mine.

He's giving me credit for creating the mission, which for nothing actually being in it, was extraordinarily tedious.

Was a great time though. Looking forward to it again tonight.
