Whimsyshire theme mystery SOLVED by microxeroxin Diablo

If we're trying to find puzzle pieces here are the ones I remember finding:

  1. there are these different items I found in act 2 called "black rock ledger pg x" i believe. I have pages 6 and I think 20 something? I don't know.

Memory may not be serving me correctly, but I believe that I found them after finding some wooden boat in the desert or something. An npc mentioned something about how it was cursed or something. Then he died and dropped the page.

  1. An item that is an Oar or something? I found off an elite in act 1 hell somewhere. It seemed a strange item but I don't know if it actually has a purpose.

Diablo 3 Hardcore Deaths: Levels 60, 43, 21, 20 and 15 by bodegabillin Diablo

[–]Helen___Keller 2 points3 points ago

I lost my hardcore char in the beginning of hell and just thought "meh, I knew I was going to have to start a normal character to play with friends eventually"

In a week or so I'll probably come back to hardcore. Thinking maybe a barb. I think playing melee makes it more fun

As a diablo fan, I will always support the idea of shinier gear to work towards.

Issues With Diablo 3: Poor Implementation Of Difficulty by vtaasin Diablo

[–]Helen___Keller 1 point2 points ago

I feel like a lot of these difficulties were solved in d2 through the party system. When I was first going through hell in d2, I sure couldn't take a single hit, but eventually it worked out. Eventually I leveled up, got some gear, got my henchman some gear, and started farming useful things like hell countess. Got some more gear, and started farming even more useful things like uber diablo

I am, however, worried that with 4 man groups and the ability to kick, this is much harder to do.

Also, is it safe to play online yet? I heard that there's hacking problems in public games

A Personal Perspective On Diablo 2 vs. Diablo 3 by hugosalvatorein Diablo

[–]Helen___Keller 13 points14 points ago

I think my biggest problem with the atmosphere is the dialog. I'm creeping through the depths of a hell portal when my enchantress starts talking to me about how she thinks of me as an older sister, and I respond by saying "just don't ask me about men" and she is embarrassed. Very offsetting.

edit: to be more specific, I think a lot of the characters and dialog fit better into WoW's tone. That is, we're here to save the world but there's a lot of quirky characters and interesting personalities and dialog. For example, the guy who complains at me for not working hard enough at lifting the catapult while i'm also fighting off hordes of minions. He has a silly personality that leads him to, sort of ironically, complain that I am lazy while I fight off demons to protect him. But this silliness isn't fit for diablo. That's a WoW thing, in my opinion.

I get ads about potty training my cat, and other cat related ads. It's definitely true.

Your HONEST thoughts about Diablo 3? What do you like/don't like? by peacefulcommunistin Diablo

[–]Helen___Keller 1 point2 points ago

Meh. I agreed, then I thought about all the good diablo 2 builds which were ALL pure vit + necessary str and maybe necessary dex (if you use a shield), besides a single barb build that maxed str with massive leech.

I think not choosing stats made my stats more interesting

edit: as a rebuttal to myself though, stats have more uses in d3. (actually increasing a wizard damage with intellect, for example)

While I agree that it's kind of annoying, as a hardcore player I really enjoy knowing there's a pack of death just offscreen

Murdered College Student Shot 7 Times, Then Handcuffed By Police by hearafterin politics

[–]Helen___Keller 32 points33 points ago

To be fair, officer are taught to handcuff after shooting someone, because there are some people who can somehow withstand and go rage mode after taking bullets, and this can be a huge officer safety issue. I believe the correct protocol, (assuming he was armed), would be to shoot for effect -> handcuff -> call paramedics

Not to say that it is correct to shoot unarmed college students like this, but the article is spending a lot of time trying to make an issue out of handcuffs.

So, Mitt Romney signed an anti-porn pledge. Would Redditors be interested in buying ads on porn sites to let people know? by RomneyHatesPornin politics

[–]Helen___Keller 7 points8 points ago

Just out of curiosity, how much does advertising space on a porn site actually cost? I know top porn sites get a ridiculous number of page views, but I feel like the sort of ads you see are the sketchy "get laid now" ads that only first-time-on-the-internet type people would actually click. I would think that, paying for that many views, it wouldn't really be profitable.

Is anybody else proud to be a registered "Unaffiliated" ? by Ibeadoctorin politics

[–]Helen___Keller 0 points1 point ago*

Oooh, did you go through my recent posting history? I don't even remember posting anything in Atheism.

In case you forgot to read, my posts on Romney are about how the OP's anti-Romney post is NOT a valid argument against him (which I post in threads about Romney's grandchildren. A joke, compared to real political discussion.). In threads "xxxx blasts Romney" I post a link to a cracked article called "how to spot a BS political article" that criticizes articles named 'x blasts y'. In a thread on "in defense of romney, something something conservative economics" i disagree with the OP, but that thread has nothing to do with Romney so much as economics. In a thread about Paul Ryan raising a lot of money, I disagree with a poster without taking a side on the actual main discussion.

To be precise, I don't really know enough about Romney to give a valid argument for whether I would support him or not; I plan to inform myself more if(when) he wins the nomination and is up against Obama.

The fact that I am agnostic-atheist is irrelevant.

And "can't stand the top 1%" is a bit much. I think it would be better to say that I recognize trickle-down economics as a poor system, and would rather see the US drift more in the direction of socialism. I feel that the best achievable "real"(as opposed to ideal) economy is a mixed economy (which we have) that is further in the direction of socialist than we currently have.

Free market <---------USA-------Europe----China-----North Korea-> Command Economy

that's how I see the world as right now. I would prefer if the USA were closer to Europe's level.

I don't know shit about Rick Perry besides that Colbert made entertaining ads about him.

If you really want to know, I have nothing against your "christ-fags". I'm not religious because I was not raised religious. The end. I have no repressed teenage angst from overbearing christian parents. I don't have some misguided belief that the religious are all morons who can't see some obvious truth because they are less intelligent. I am simply not religious. However, I will very emphatically disagree with laws that are not in the best interests of the people that are made for religious reasons.

So, go on. Try to generalize me more.

Pedophilia, Ephebophilia and Child Sexuality: Defending the Indefensible. First of all -- is attraction to minors a sexual preference, mental illness, criminal behavior or pure evil? How did you come to that conclusion? by 100Percenterin politics

is attraction to minors a sexual preference, mental illness, criminal behavior or pure evil?

Unless this was supposed to be rhetorical (in which case you should state what your answer to the question is and what evidence you have to support that), I would suggest looking for psychological papers on the topic. I'm sure it's been researched before.

[Honest question, discussion wanted] Is the perceived socio-political success of Norway as a country a case-study for the potential success of mass segregation? by ronearcin politics

[–]Helen___Keller 0 points1 point ago

Not necessarily. Although I would agree that "if there is racial tension and multiple races forcibly integrated, there will be problems", I feel that segregation is exactly the wrong conclusion. A better conclusion is to integrate a society anyways, and work towards a society in which there is no racial tension. Believe it or not, racism is not unremovable. It is not biological part of human nature. It is the result of sprouting from an ignorant, xenophobic society. One that, ideally, we will not be in the future. Maybe half a century isn't enough to remove racial tension, but actually I believe we are moving towards an integrated culture. You may not like it, but the world is moving towards a very homogenized culture due to globalization. When we consume the same media, we tend to find ourselves culturally more similar. I can only think that in a century or three the cultures of all races in America will be nearly the same.

Is anybody else proud to be a registered "Unaffiliated" ? by Ibeadoctorin politics

[–]Helen___Keller 1 point2 points ago

I don't understand. I'm unaffiliated because I can judge in individual cases rather than on a whole who is correct, even if it is almost always the same party that is in the right.

I like to keep my elected officials on their toes. I will not vote for you just because you are red or blue. If you are corrupt, you are going to get kicked out. What about this is denial?

No. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd have changed to being a registered republican so I could vote in the primary.

Why Romney Might be Right: An Argument For Conservative Economics by deejohnmustardin politics

[–]Helen___Keller -1 points0 points ago

That's not a valid argument. Are you suggesting that millionaires work literally 100 times harder than those who earn 100 times less money?

Furthermore, as ideal as it would be, you can't base an economy off "who works harder". It's quite subjective and would ultimately mean a huge bureaucracy devoted to deciding who works hard and how much they deserve.

However, you can base an economy off of policies that don't blatantly favor the rich. (I think) that most economists agree that trickle down economics doesn't work well. (citation needed though)
