Maybe it's because I've been a San Antonio resident for about 14 years and am jaded by now, but San Antonio is a terribly boring place to live. The radio plays nothing but shitty music, which means that good bands rarely come here. They always go to Austin or Dallas or San Marcos. The last time I saw a decent band play here, it was Interpol, and the venue (Josabi's) had horrible acoustics.

That said, I guess it depends on what you like to do. If you like being outdoors, there are some great parks, like Eisenhauer Park on the northwest side. There's a nice view from a tower up there. If you like museums, the Witte Museum is pretty hands-on and kinda cool. We have a zoo. We have botanical gardens. We have a downtown area that's kind of oversold but not too bad if you know it's oversold and go walk around with a group of friends.
