Love this!!! Kids are so cute....I love it when I have to work in jk to grade 3 classrooms....just remembered a story that happened to me....think I'll slap a comic together soon

...and I had to fix it. by mcsweetitsin iiiiiiitttttttttttt

I once had to go to a supervisor's house to hook up a projector so he can have a superbowl party, and this was OK for my supervisor since he was going to that party

I'm the opposite....used to be a security freak, but now my labs have all users in the admin group....GPOs usually override what they shouldn't be doing, but sometimes it's nice when I have to fix something in a student's account, and be able to "right-click" (yes....right clicking the desktop is apparently a security risk)...I've had less problems in the 5 years since doing that....sure the occasional Norton or regclean garbage gets installed from online sites, but that's easily fixed, plus I re-image everything every summer.

I fel your pain with CRTs...we finally moved away from them, but I still remember the 21" from a few years ago....

I ain't running it....I'm just a lacky!! Hell, the sysadmin downloads torrents all day, and he's the security freak that makes 4 yr old kids (school environment) use 6 character alpha-numeric passwords (we got away from that 2 yrs ago...start them off at 7yrs instead and 4 character passwords)....that douche assumed that a 4 yr old would be able to login.

In all fairness, most have them memorized by now, and gladly give me their password....like I'll remember 5 minutes later?!? I'm also the email admin that got refused when I recommended password length and 6 months mandatory change....70% of users still have their default set (first name, and auto email upon creation with instructions on changing their password)....whatever, they pay me to do my job, not care!!

I hate getting their whole life's story...just tell me your problem, and I'll fix it

With my users, if their password isn't taped to the monitor, I just ask them, and usually get it...Sometimes it's easier to troubleshoot a problem being in the same environment as them....narrows down the problem if it's a local profile gone awry, or network settings on their account.

Just a weird problem! If I try a diff workstation, I get an error during install...Microsoft cryptic errors that don't tell ya what's wrong, can't recall the error code offhand at the moment....even virtual, if I add any drivers to my share, I'll get an error...even built a machine from scratch, backed up all the drivers using Driver Genius, added those to a fresh deployment share...got an error

What I find frustrating is that the idiot at work, the guy who can't do anything right, swears he has no problems....I've tried 3 different deployment shares, he's on his 1st one!

I swore with MDT so much...can't get it going for the life of me if it isn't being deployed towards a virtual machine...apparently moving to WDS at work, but if I can't get it going....I'll stick with good old Ghost

works with XP....not Win7

My supervisor asked me to prepare a training session for iPad users at work....I got out of it, but seriously....It doesn't come with a manual for a reason! If you're incapable of learning the iPad by just using it....trade it in for an Etch-a-sketch

An Open Letter to my Coworker Concerning His Cable Management Practices by MaenadsWishin iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]GarageRock 7 points8 points ago

I had a janitor once use extra strength, super sticky tape to tape down all the cables in a computer lab, with no give whatsoever if I had to open up the machine....asked him politely not to do that...a few weeks later, he was cleaning the floors, and just to piss me off since he didn't like being told that, he unplugged EVERYTHING, and left it in a tangled mess in the middle of the computer lab after he was done....

I love getting an email from someone with a problem, then an hour later thanking me for fixing it so quick....even though I hadn't had the chance to get there yet. I guess I'm better than I thought!!

At least she turns it off at night. Best excuse I've heard for not shutting was, "I need to check my email in the morning"

I have a batch of about 40 that the motherboard is going on them...I'm trying to make administration understand that spending $200 each right now doesn't make sense if we're replacing them next year.

I had to set up 6 iPads for a project involving kids with learning difficulties....they've been ready since October, and the teacher hasn't brought them out yet because, and I quote, "I don't know how to use them"....bring one home for the weekend, and play with it!!

[–]GarageRock 11 points12 points ago

You have a point!! I'm IT in the school system, and I have to keep fixing 6 yr old PCs. Administration cuts computer budgets, can't afford to buy library books, but waste money to go to pointless meetings to figure out why kids can't read?
