My wife is going crazy. I don't know what to do. by jbtrumpsin Parenting

[–]FusRoDahMa 0 points1 point ago

You should try looking up "High Needs Baby" that should help you and your wife out a lot. My 2nd child is / was a high needs infant and it was total pure chaos the first 3 months. She's 9 months now and things are A LOT better! Just hang in there!

Save some money and save your life: avoid food poisoning when using dried beans by randomhoneyballsin Frugal

[–]FusRoDahMa 0 points1 point ago

That's cool. :) Just saying that my entire family for generations has not done it that way. We rinse the beans off in the sink and then dump them in the crock pot with a hunk of salted pork. Then they cook on high for about 6-8 hours before we turn them on low and consume them later that evening. (Cook time usually starts around 7-8 am when we wake up.) None of us has ever gotten sick from this method. I do not know of anyone else that has become sick either. (I live in the south and this is just how beans are done.)

I have used a slow cooker to cook beans for forever and my parents and grand parents before that for at least the past 70 years. None of us have suffered any ill effects.

Revelation 13:2: “The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had … a mouth like that of a lion”. by sigveiin atheism

[–]FusRoDahMa 5 points6 points ago

That verse meant that the creature was "LOUD" as a lion, not that it had the same physical mouth. It's a translation problem. Leopards are quiet and sneaky, lions are loud as hell.

My son has Leukodystrophy (update 3 to 'My DS has something wrong with him') by sunstoppedshiningin Parenting

My little one is almost 9 months old and we wouldn't have it any other way. My first was not a good co-sleeper. She was too light of a sleeper and too active. I love breast feeding and co-sleeping. Makes for a nice night!

Best minivan or family vehicle? by kacefacein Parenting

[–]FusRoDahMa 0 points1 point ago

Toyota Sienna. Don't even mess around. :) Trust me, I tried to go the SUV route, and ended up trading in a 2 year old Pathfinder with 10k miles on it for the Sienna a couple of weekends ago. Get it right the first time, get the van. LOL

I also suggest bed sharing/co-sleeping with him from here on out. Enjoy what time you have and just keep on keeping on. I'm sorry I don't have any magical words to say to make this nightmare go away. I am so sorry.

Should I be nursing an angry baby? by nealesain breastfeeding

[–]FusRoDahMa 1 point2 points ago

This. My second was a classic high needs baby. At 8 months, she still is. She really only prefers to be held by me and still likes to nurse every 2 hours. (All through the night too mind you.) She has to be co-slept with and held by ME most of the day. Some babies are just that way. Now my first didn't care who was holding her, or if she was off toddling around by herself. Every baby is different.

A 3 week old will not bite your nipple off. :) It just feels that way. Your nipples will toughen up as time goes by. The first three months are the hardest. Everything you've described sounds just like normal nursing behavior, add to it, he's probably sore and learning a new latch since having his tongue clipped. Mama pretty much all you can do is settle down, get a good book and let him nurse all he wants. I know at 3 weeks old my babies were nursing pretty much 24-7. It is a serious commitment at first, but it does get easier.

Please support your local, cruelty free farmers. Many areas have wonderful CSA's you can participate in, as well as weekend farmers markets. Not only are you saying that you are against animal cruelty you are also saying "I support local/small business."

Is it possible to trade-in a more expensive car for a less expensive one and receive cash back from a dealer? by technicalhessianin Frugal

[–]FusRoDahMa 0 points1 point ago

Try using TruCar before you do anything. That will help you out. But I recently traded in my 2010 Pathfinder for a 2012 Sienna and only had to pay a couple thousand more to walk out the door with it. (My Pathfinder only had 9k miles however.)

Can anyone give me tips, tricks or advice on flying with my two little ones? by mrsgordonin Parenting

[–]FusRoDahMa 1 point2 points ago

All I can suggest is strapping down the 20 month old for sure. We used a Cares harness last flight and that worked out pretty well. Smaller than a carseat so you can just keep it in your diaper bag. Good luck!
