XY here: My girlfriend has slept with 24 guys, I have slept with 2 girls. Should I care? by Fugioin TwoXChromosomes

[–]Fugio[S] 0 points1 point ago

Nope, I would say personality wise we are incredibly compatible.

We have actually been really good friends for almost two years before we started dating. Basically we both gradually developed feelings for each other, but we both valued are friendship for either of us to risk what we already had and make a move. Long story short is one night we ended up kissing in the moonlight. It was incredibly organic, we were both laughing, our faces were closer than usual I suppose and it just happened. Best. First. Kiss. Ever.

But yeah, we are incredibly compatible. We have a ton of mutual friends, we both love to party, drink and enjoy trees together. Our friend group parties pretty hard, but nothing too insane. That is part of why I was surprised when she told me what she told me.

And I am certainly not introverted by any means, I actually consider myself extremely extroverted.

I didn't ask her. She brought up the subject and told me.

Since we are both still in college "settling down" seems like a bit extreme. Also, I don't understand why you are saying I have a "madonna/whore complex"

You really hit the nail on the head.

I expressed my thoughts to her, and in some responses to this post, that I don't blame her or have any ill feelings towards her because of her past but rather that I have trouble dealing with this because of my own personal insecurities.

If I try to be honest with myself I feel a bit jealous that she has been with more people that I have. My insecurities make me feel that because she has had more partners than I have that I am somehow less valuable to her because of this number. I feel like she compares / will compare me to any number of these guys and I just won't be able to match up with these guys. Hell, part of me fears because she has had so many partners that she would think less about cheating on me.

I know that that is silly, but it is how I feel. I just am not yet comfortable with the fact that I am #25 in her bed, despite the fact that I know that I am currently #1 in her heart.

It was really tough for me to have this conversation with her because I felt self conscious that this was bothering me, if that makes sense. I'm really glad we did though. She told me she regrets some of those numbers and wishes she could take some of them back, but all of those experiences have made her appreciate me more.

It may take me a while to get used to the fact that she has had a lot of "practice" so to speak, but I suppose that is why she is so good at it :P

My girlfriend has slept with 24 guys, I have only slept with 2 girls. Should I care? by Fugioin AskReddit

Honestly, I didn't even try really. It wasn't something I could have forced if I tried. We both gradually developed romantic feelings for each other, but at the same time we each valued each others friendship so much that we didn't want to risk it by making a move.

Then one night we were drunk and it kind of just happened. The next morning we talked about our feelings and bam!

I never said I blamed her for her choices.

I merely said that I was having trouble with the fact due to my own personal insecurities that I am trying to overcome.

She said her reasoning for writing them down was that she never wanted to be one of those who couldn't keep track of everyone she slept with.

How would you feel if he was working on number 26 and you were on number 2 with him?

I'm not trying to stigmatize or judge or anything like that, I am just genuinely curious.

Thanks.

She also understands why I have these gut feelings. Mentally, I completely understand that it is just a number and her past doesn't make her love me any less. Emotionally, though, it seems that my emotional mind wants to ignore the rational conclusions that my mental mind has already made.

I think it just comes down me needing the time for my rationality to conquer my knee-jerk emotions.

She said she was completely clean! I trust her enough to take her word for it.

Thanks for your response.

The thing is mentally I completely understand that it is just a number, and whatever I'm feeling is more informed by my testosterone and whatever personal insecurities I have that I am not completely self-aware of.

We had a long talk about this last night and I really do feel better about it. She understands that I don't hold it against her in any way, it is just that it is a sensitive subject with me and I need time to get over it in my head.

Hilarious.

Those here who bellow that the protesters are lazy bums on the taxpayer dole say NOT A WORD about corporate welfare, or taxpayer-funded bailouts, or subsidies to companies posting record profits.

And not a word about the red states taking in more federal dollars than what they contribute.

You people are merely smug, insulated fools. Out of the way while we bring the very justice that you clamor for whenever YOUR circumstances call for it. Lord knows you're too lazy and self-conscious to do it on your own behalves.

By the way, could you make up your minds about cops? Up until now, you've been kicking and screaming that they're soaking up your "hard-earned" - because clacking away at a keyboard is so difficult - taxpayer dollars. Now? They're your heroes, worth every dime of their otherwise, according to you on any other day, unionized laziness.

Yeah - keep on rockin' for Wall Street. Keep offering yourselves as sacrificial lambs for the robber barons.

But ask yourselves: why do you so willingly play the role of hamster, running on a wheeled treadmill that never stops, and from which you can never escape? Do you really think corporate America will make it possible for you to become competition? Do you really think that wage stagnation against bogus inflationary measures like beans and rice is coincidental?

Wake up, and stop being such dead weight on the rest of us. Real change means blood, sweat, tears, urine, and whatever other bodily fluid is expended for energy. Democracy in this country has never been clean. If you believe that it ever has been, you are not an American.
