Vampire Juuji Kai

What game are you playing right now and enjoying? by Sprakisnoloin Games

[–]Freikugel 1 point2 points ago

Hm, that's a really tough call. It's the kind of game where you'll either love it or hate it. I've sunk around 300 hours into the games but I also know a few friends who gave up because they didn't feel like wrestling with the controls. If you can, find another friend to play with. This game has amazing co-op play and I've killed many afternoons hunting wyverns with my brother.

The game starts you off in a village where you partake in quests to gather supplies or hunt monsters. You're given a slew of weapons in the beginning, each with a unique moveset and playstyle, ranging from bow, to lances, to hammers, and swords of various sizes. Monster Hunter is commonly bashed for having awful controls, requiring you to use the D-pad to control the camera while moving at the same time with the analog stick.

The starter quests generally have you hunting small mobs, such as raptor lookalikes and whatnot, but eventually you move on to hunt giant gorillas and dragons. I'd say the biggest draw for me is the challenge it takes to hunt larger monsters, like reading their attack patterns and noticing the cues they preform before they do certain attacks.

The main goal of the game is basically to move through the ranks by completing quests, gathering materials and monster drops to make stronger gear. This in turn lets you hunt stronger monsters, giving you access to stronger gear. Armor sets in this game don't only provide static upgrades such as increasing defense or weapon attacks. You can obtain armor sets which can alter your play styles such as ignoring the stun time on wyvern roars, lowering the charge time on bows, granting critical hits on your unsheathe attack, and other neat abilities.

Monster Hunter Tri for the wii is the version that most people play. It has the most content and is the most accessible version. The wii version also has the best and most accessible online multiplayer. For a portable version, it's a toss up between Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. MHFU has more content and is officially localized, while MHP3 is the newer version with addition weapon moves, different monsters, and fixed hitboxes on some attacks but less quests overall. Requires CFW and an english patch since the game is entirely in japanese. The most up to date portable version of the game is Monster Hunter 3G for the 3DS, however that's in japanese and it has absolutely no chance of being localized. Vita versions of the game have been hinted at, but again, capcom sees no market for Monster Hunter in North America. I'd recommend either pirating or buying a used umd for MHFU for cheap, should only be around $10.

Monster Hunter on my psp.

On a related note, I always found it interesting that open discussion threads like this always end up getting very few upvotes but a very large amount of comments. Do people just want to chime in on the discussion but don't feel the need upvote to increase the thread's exposure?

Why not? The idea of competitive Halo confuses me, but I can see that both could have a high skill ceiling.

Hey /r/Manga, I just made /r/Psyren, could I get some posts in here? by Mywhyin manga

r/manga, could you recommend me something? by VileplumesCousinin manga

[–]Freikugel 2 points3 points ago

Consider checking out /r/manga's top manga recommendation list. It's pretty solid overall. There's also browsing the top manga lists on MyAnimeList, AnimeNewsNetwork, and the various RT! posts on the subreddit.

From the list you gave me, your tastes seem like romance, comedy, and coming of age stories. Maybe give Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer a shot? Never met anyone who didn't like it. Cromartie Highschool is also great for laughs. Another good one is Angel Densetsu, but the artwork isn't exactly modern.

A story about two unusually mature young people. They are both smart, very together and they are in love. But, as grown-up as they act, they are still just 14 and their feelings for each other are captured with tenderness and lack of nostalgia, but very cutely. -Mangaupdates

A very cute story. Enjoyable, but also unfortunately short. I hope the next volume comes out soon.

Sexual harassment as ethical imperative: how Capcom’s fighting game reality show turned ugly by SolInvictusin Games

[–]Freikugel 1 point2 points ago

Hm, I don't think I'm getting my point across very well. I don't mean to advocate for blaming the victim. I want to support standing up for yourself. There was harassment seen on stream, but from what I've seen on twitter there was a lot more, and it was a lot worse, off stream. Aris is trying to be a showman for the stream. He's funny to watch, but again, he's a gigantic prick who doesn't know when to shut his mouth when he's gone too far. Another female competitor, Sherry Jenix, a friend of Aris, even told Miranda from Day 2 that if Aris was bothering her, she'd just need to talk to him.

Sexual harassment as ethical imperative: how Capcom’s fighting game reality show turned ugly by SolInvictusin Games

[–]Freikugel -11 points-10 points ago

Cross Assault was an extremely high stress and nerve wracking environment. Being stuck in a building playing the same video game for 14 hours a day, over 7 days a week, with $25,000 on the line changes people. Everyone is to blame for this. Aris is on blast for being a douche, Miranda is being called out for not standing up for herself, Capcom is targeted for not being aware of this harassment, and the FGC in general is split between the issue. People pop off, say shit they don't mean, and generally act like a prick. This is the fighting game community. You play to win and you gotta earn your stripes. Yes, sexual harassment and racism are not laughing matters, but having tough skin is something you need nowadays.

Aris is a massive prick. He may be an OG and a legend in the community, but he has no place coaching team Tekken, especially when compared to team Street Fighter's coach, Alex Valle. Miranda isn't off the hook either. She should have confronted Aris on the matter, instead of bottling it up since day 1. Aris has already released an apology, taking back what he said on stream and clarifying his points. http://tl.gd/g65iqn.

I live in Vancouver, Canada and would love to buy all my favourite animes on DVD to have on display in my new apartment. Where is a good place (either on-line or in a store) where I can buy shows like FMA, D. Gray Man, etc at not too expensive prices? by I_amThatGuyin anime

[–]Freikugel 0 points1 point ago

Sakura Media has a pretty small selection and high pricing. I'd go to Soul of Anime in Richmond Centre. You can also find cheaper copies of more popular anime from HMV or other video stores.

Mangaupdates tells me that no group has bothered to pick it up. You're probably gonna have to just watch the series as it airs.

Sorry about the mangafox link. You can download the chapters from Japanzai. This is by far one of the hottest series I've ever read. Too bad the scanlators are holding back releases since they don't like mangafox hosting their scans. Still a great read though.

Monk guardian has low slots while the Fairy has low base damage. You can probably sell the genie.

It's all in the equipment. Make sure you're wearing a full set (all pristine, or all plate). That'll provide an addition 20% to all stats on your gear. Try to find gear with high upgrade slots, as that will allow you to further add tower health or tower damage. I would recommend getting a good mobile moxie with high stats and tower health and upgrading it. You can get up to +50 tower health this way.

I'm having trouble determining market prices. I've recently sold a 20 slot godly pristine helmet for 10 mil. The stats on it were fairly mediocre. Today I tried to sell a 20 slot legendary pristine helmet with better stats for around the same price but I was told it wouldn't sell for that much because it wasn't godly. Does the fact that it's legendary really devalue an item that much? Also same for plate/mail/chain items with very nice stats.

Need to get rid of 20m mana. by ludwigericssonin dungeondefenders

I think they put the cap on mana so people wouldn't be able to over price the rarer items. It keeps the market in check when there's a limited amount of money avaliable on hand.
