What, in your opinion, is the ultimate performance done by a band? by Kamarothin Metal

As cliche as it may be, I have to go with Iron Maiden at Rock in Rio.

Whats the most fucked up game your friends play? by GoodLuckLetsFuckin AskReddit

[–]ForeverJames 0 points1 point ago

When I was in high school, one of my friends had a trampoline, so we played a version of Dead Man's Bluff.

One player stands in the centre of the trampoline, while the others bounce around himm while holding pillows. The guy in the middle is blindfolded, and has to tackle all the other players off of the trampoline. Meanwhile, everyone else is smacking him in the head as hard as they can. It doesn't sound like much, but just imagine how it feels to be totally blind on a trampoline while getting hit in the face with pillows.

Last person to stay on becomes the blind man for the next round. For extra excitement/mess, players that are dragged off can take a shot and they're allowed back on the trampoline.

I was tired of doing laundry and having my dirty clothes all over the place, so I threw all of my clothes away. What's your best "fuck it" moment. by Hazelponyin howtonotgiveafuck

[–]ForeverJames 0 points1 point ago

It was a hot summer day last year; the sun was quite literally raping my city with heat that week. Even in my basement wearing just some shorts and a t-shirt, I was absolutely roasting. I was about to drench myself in cold water when a single thought popped in my head:

"I don't give a fuck."

And I took off all my clothes. I was home alone that day, so why should I care? I walked around my house naked until it finally got chilly that night. It was truly liberating.

What do you hate most about yourself? Would you change it if you could, or keep it? by grilledbabyin intj

[–]ForeverJames 12 points13 points ago

I wish I had a more realistic opinion of myself, rather my alternating inflated/non-existent ego. A friend of mine described me perfectly a couple nights ago: confidently insecure. I'm sure many an INTJ is familiar with the feeling; my sense of self-worth is a strange hybrid of what I'm sure are both positive and negative delusions. Nothing would make me happier than a complete and objective assessment of my own strengths and weaknesses. That is the only way I feel I'll be able to improve what I need to and feel happy with myself.

DAE pretty much always have music playing in their head? by safetymeetingin DoesAnybodyElse

[–]ForeverJames 0 points1 point ago

If I'm not working on or thinking about something, my mind defaults to playing something. I believe it's just so I have something, ANYTHING, to keep me occupied.

Currently on rotation is From Under the Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy; I'm a sucker for angsty pop-punk.

How many of you feel you are above average intelligence? by southernlightsin INTP

[–]ForeverJames 12 points13 points ago

I recognize that my study habits and work ethic is atrocious; however, the people I've met that can match my ability to process information and the speed at which I can do so can be counted on one hand.

If you're refering to raw IQ score, I tested at a 145 the last time I had one done. Take this with a grain of salt; even professionally-administered tests are rough estimates at best.

What's your favorite movie quote from all times? by Little_sugarin quotes

[–]ForeverJames 15 points16 points ago

"Harry, let's face it. And I'm not being funny. I mean no disrespect, but you're a cunt. You're a cunt now, and you've always been a cunt. And the only thing that's going to change is that you're going to be an even bigger cunt. Maybe have some more cunt kids." - Ken, In Bruges

How do other INTJs score on the Dark Triad test? by beautifulginglyformin intj

[–]ForeverJames 1 point2 points ago

69/58/53

I'm skeptical of this quiz, for one (not like someone would take legitimate action based on its results), but the disorder ranges seem odd to me. I don't think this worldview is indicative that I have a disorder; if anything, it's bitter realism. It would be fantastic if everyone was honest and humble and caring, but they aren't. There will always be liars, cheats, manipulates, and the like, and they will win unless you're prepared. What's wrong with simply playing the game until a more hospitable reality sets in? I try to be a good person, but I know beyond a doubt that I'll be punished for my efforts, so really, why bother? My actions won't change mankind's greedy nature. I would assume this is an inherently INTJ perspective; we are the type to recognize that the world will never be perfect, so we're capable of accepting and acting on the Dark Triad tendencies found in everyone more easily than other types. That's my belief, anyway.

Men of Reddit, what are your man laws? by PFC-Schmuckatelliin AskReddit

[–]ForeverJames 0 points1 point ago

I would add an exception to the women rule; it is only acceptable when everyone present is single. This prevents people from getting offended while allowing endless "I would nail _______ so hard she'd be ruined for other men" conversations, which are ALWAYS better while drunk.

Canada's tar sands, deposits of sand saturated with bitumen, contain twice the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by global oil use in our entire history by yogthosin science

[–]ForeverJames 1 point2 points ago

As an Albertan, I agree that the oil sands are a environmental issue. However, this bullshit, sensationalist headline infuriates me to no end.

Technology is advancing all the time; not just in terms of alternative energy sources, but also when it comes to traditional oil, such as the SAGD drilling already mentioned in a number of comments. The problem is that the world is not yet ready to switch over from its reliance on fossil fuels, so for the time being, we do need to rely on these "dirty" forms of energy.

It'll be a great day when the energy needs of the global community can be completely met through reliable, environmentally-friendly sources. Until then, the oil sands is a necessity, so let us do our thing. Considering that in 2011 the US imported nearly a trillion barrels of Canadian oil, the criticism found in this article is hypocritical at best.

DAE feel indifferent to holidays? by jethreezyin INTP

[–]ForeverJames 4 points5 points ago

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments already stated, in that the vast majority of holidays aren't particularly important to me, including my own birthday. However, as pointless as these days may be, it is a much larger hassle to try to avoid them than it is to simply go along with the people around you for a couple hours. Obviously this is easier with some days than others; not many care if you don't celebrate your birthday, but Christmas is damn near impossible to skip out on.

I think it's particularly bad with religious holidays. I'm an atheist, so when days like Easter or Christmas roll around, I have to contend with the day itself along with my more religious friends and family bugging me about my lack of faith. They never question me about it during the rest of the year, and these holidays should not be an exception to that rule. It's not that I hate them because they're religious in nature; they can both be excuses just to have a bit of fun. The problem is that issues always arise from them.

What I'm really interested in is how other introverts deal with holidays. Do you grin and bear it? Make an excuse not to be involved? I've taken to not telling most people when my birthday is until it's already passed, and I can fake sick well enough to get out of get-togethers I truly don't want to attend.

Have other people thought of you guys as a 'goody-goody'? by keylime_dearin introvert

[–]ForeverJames 4 points5 points ago

If it weren't for a friend of mine always bringing up stupid shit we did in junior high, I could pass for quite the model student. I volunteer, do Model UN, have a pretty good GPA, don't drink or smoke much; it's only when he starts touching me and goes on about girls and sex that I get the odd looks. I really hate the guy, but I've known him since seventh grade and don't have the heart to tell him.

Both sides don't do it: the Senate GOP's record use of the filibuster is extra-Constitutional, without precedent and destructive to our democracy. by wang-bangerin politics

[–]ForeverJames 1 point2 points ago

You nailed it on the head; the two American political parties are so damn polarized that your government has become less about "the good of the people" and more about making the other side look bad. It's a silly mentality that has no place in any decision-making body of that size.

One thing I admire about the American system compared to the Canadian one is that Congress always has a free vote; reps aren't forced to vote in line with their party. However, that doesn't matter when so many from both parties and in both houses are so dead-set on voting against each other because they can. What I love about the Canadian and most Euro governments is that it encourages cooperation rather than competition; compromise and coalitions as opposed to the ideological battleground that exists in the States.

How was everyone's weekend? by cattravelingrecipesin introvert

[–]ForeverJames 6 points7 points ago

Friday night I went to see Ghost, Opeth, and Mastodon with some friends; despite losing my nerve in asking out the girl I'm interested in, it was an amazing show. Saturday I went for dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday, and Sunday I had the entire afternoon to myself to relax and recharge. Overall, quite good.

What's your philosophy? by KangarooLemonadein introvert

It's a tough lesson to learn, but one that will improve your life immeasurably once you accept it.

Are things going to shit? Don't worry; it'll pass.

Are things going great? It won't last, so enjoy it while you can.

I HAAAAATE when people shout to me through a door. by irlKrystin introvert

[–]ForeverJames 6 points7 points ago

I'd rather they shout through a door than open it, say what they needed to, then not closing the door as they leave. I can handle a bit of noise of it means I don't have to deal with the single most annoying thing that can be done by somebody you live with.

I speak too softly. Is this an introvert thing or are there loud introverts out there? by SubwayManin introvert

[–]ForeverJames 1 point2 points ago

When I'm talking about something that genuinely interests me, angers me, or generally provokes an emotional response, my volume increases exponentially. For example, I can get quite loud while doing debate or Model UN. Outside of situations like these, I can be quiet to the point where other soft-spoken introverts ask me multiple times to speak up.

I am a very private person in public, so nothing infuriates me quite like being for dinner with friends while they practically shout personal details. Jesus, guys; we're in a restaurant, not a concert. You can use your inside voices like grown-ups.

What is the difference between INTP and INTJ? by SirHerpOfDerpin INTP

[–]ForeverJames 12 points13 points ago

For me, the largest difference is their ultimate goal with their knowledge. An INTJ will need to act on their information; they want to see the results of their effort. In contrast, an INTP requires nothing more than the satisfaction that they understand the topic as thoroughly as possible.

INTJ's will be the ones taking decisive action, making a plan early and sticking with it. INTP's are constantly updating their bank of information so that, when the time comes, they will be able to take the absolute best course of action. INTJ's are practical; INTP's, theoretical.

I don't think I've ever gotten angry in my entire life. Does anyone else find they are difficult or impossible to anger? by quadrapodin introvert

[–]ForeverJames 0 points1 point ago

My anger is long, cold, passive-aggressive burn. I haven't lashed out at someone since I was a child, but I become frustrated and aggravated more frequently than I would like. It isn't so much a "I want to hit him" anger; it's a "I hate you, I hope you suffer and can never figure out why."

Recently, the same two people have caused me more irritation than everyone else I interact with combined. Thankfully, one of them has realised this and backed off a bit. The other is incredibly dense.

So, where do you INTPs hail from? by mingiein INTP

[–]ForeverJames 0 points1 point ago

There are people everywhere; the last time I was downtown for a trip, I was forced off the pavement more often than not due to the crowd. Even on the busiest days, downtown Calgary feels like it has a tenth of the people; it probably helps that our total population is about a fifth of yours.

To be fair, though, the majority of my time in Toronto has been spent in the blocks between U of T and Dundas Square. I'm the rest of the city is much friendlier to those that hate swarms of pedestrians.

Calgary, Alberta. Not the best place for an introvert, but I'll take it over somewhere like Toronto or anywhere in the States.
