Bob Dylan is a strange dude, he doesn't really stand front and center and lead a band... sorry you were mislead. The iconic folk singer thing was really phase one, he evolved for years and that old man that plays a piano in the corner is where he is at now. A lot of people know that going into a show, you were not one of them... I would've been disappointed in that case too.

Looking for two player games that transition to four players well? My wife and I spend plenty of time playing two player games. These are my suggestions:

Agricola - difficult to learn, but in my opinion it is the best game ever made. scales fantastically.(DO IT)

Stone Age - great worker placement game with a dice-rolling mechanic that insures a bit of randomness (which I welcome in a two-player game). Again, scales fantastically.

Saint Petersburg - This was the first game I brought home to play two players with my wife. It works really well, there are a lot of things to like about this game, the paper money that is included is not one of those things (you handle it so much that it becomes a nuisance, I suggest using poker chips instead).

Kingdom Builder - simple rules, plays in 30 minutes, really scales from 2-4 players nicely.

It's funny, I have nothing but amazing memories of playing this game on camping trips my entire childhood. :) - My dad still brings it out when the grand kids come over (my 4-year-old nephew loves it!).

My guess is that 20 minute number has a lot to do with a commute to-and-from work. I just happen to get two hours in a day thanks to my lengthy drive.

Catan? It's a pretty solid "designer" boardgame that is fun, easy and interactive. I knew I was onto something when my college roommates and I (who usually wanted nothing more than to go get some drinks and find some girls) would start staying home with a few six packs on a Saturday night and play Settlers... Oh, now my boardgame collection has about 60 games in it (and none of them are Monopoly)... boardgames are completely addicting.

This is a tall order. You want a game that won't lead to frustration, yet weren't satisfied with Ticket To Ride because of the lack of group participation (I assume you mean "interaction"). With interaction you will have frustration (with the type of people that get frustrated by that sort of thing). A game you may want to check out is Mystery Express. It is a lot like Clue, but a lot more difficult in terms of figuring out who the murderer is. It oozes its theme (murder on a train) and the pieces are all very nice. The player interaction rules the game but you when you're "screwing with someone" they don't really know it so they don't get frustrated with you.

I usually wouldn't recommend Cosmic Encounter to people based on my preferences, but holy hell, this sounds like the perfect situation for Cosmic Encounter!!! Also, Catan only plays with four without the expansion.

My recommendations based on his planned weekend would be Bohnanza, Bang! and The Resistance. They are all fairly easy to learn and explain and they can be fun and social.
