TROPHY CASE

Lets see your babies! How old are they and what's the newest exciting thing they are doing? by greenwomanoftheriverin beyondthebump

Miss Isabelle. She will be 6 months on the 22nd. I can't believe it! Right now she's working hard on growing teeth and learning how to crawl. She's determined to get mobile.

Daycare asked me to change to different bottles...suggestions? by glittr_grlin breastfeeding

[–]EyeAdler 1 point2 points ago

We've been using Nuk bottles for my daughter at day care. She hated Dr. Browns. Win for me, Nuk is way cheaper

I haven't been squeezing excess air out of my milk storage bags before freezing, is the milk still good? by EyeAdlerin breastfeeding

[–]EyeAdler[S] 0 points1 point ago

When I thawed it out it smelled okay, but a little soapy. I heard that's normal for thawed breast milk though. Thanks!

What bottles are you using during breast feeding? by olivine1010in breastfeeding

[–]EyeAdler 1 point2 points ago

My baby hated Dr Browns despite the great reviews. Babies don't read reviews apparently!

She's using Nuk bottles at daycare and does fine with them. I'm happy about it because they're way cheaper!

Caffeine, alcohol, etc. - when is it OK to nurse again? by RatSandwichesin breastfeeding

[–]EyeAdler 9 points10 points ago

Dr Jack Newman's advice on alcohol, "Alcohol while breastfeeding? No problem, in moderation. No need to worry about ‘pumping and dumping’. Just put the baby to the breast, even while you have your drink – why not?"

When do you put your baby down to sleep? by RatSandwichesin Mommit

[–]EyeAdler 1 point2 points ago

We start the bedtime routine around 9:00-bath, massage, jammies and nursing- she's asleep at 9:30-9:45. She just turned 4 months old. I thought about moving her bedtime up because she's so fussy at night, but I work full time and I only have so much time with her in the evenings I selfishly keep her up later than most.

What does a typical day look like for you? by NotAlanain Mommit

I am a full time working mother. This is what my work week is like with my 4 month old daughter, Isabelle

5:50 AM - Mommy wakes up and pumps. Gets ready for work. Packs up baby's bottles in her cooler for day care that day. She takes 4 bottles all with 3 oz of breast milk. Puts daycare bag and bottles near car seat for dad.

6:35 - Mommy feeds baby before leaving for work. Wakes dad up. He gets himself up and ready and then gets baby up, changed and ready to go. Sometimes they sleep in. I've left by this time. Dad drops her off at the baby sitters house.

6:45 - Mom leaves for work.

9:00 - Pump 10-15 min.

Lunch - Pump 10-15 min.

3:00 - Pump 10-15 min.

*During this time baby gets her bottles at daycare. Somedays she taakes 3, other days she's hungry every 2 hours so she will take all 4.

3:30 - Mom leaves work (yay) and goes to the gym to work out for 30 mins.

4:15-4:30 Pick up baby!

4:45 - Home! Put milk in the fridge, wash pump parts and throw dirty clothes in the wash. Nurse and play.

5:30 Daddy is home! Baby plays with daddy for awhile.

6:30-7:00 Nurse again. Baby takes a short nap. Mom and dad eat dinner. Mom packs up stuff and prepares bottles for the next day.

*Some nights she will cluster feed, some nights not. I feed her on demand at this point. Mom and dad hang out and watch a show while baby is with us in her bouncer or nursing.

8:30 - Mom showers and lays out clothes for tomorrow. Start baby getting cranky and tired.

9:00 - Start bedtime routine. Bath, massage, story, swaddled, nurse and sleep. Usually asleep by 9:30 or 9:45. Mom also goes to bed.

4:00 AM Baby up to nurse. Back to sleep.

5:50 AM Rinse and repeat.

Two questions: pumping, and nipple pain by NatalieHarkonnenin breastfeeding

[–]EyeAdler 2 points3 points ago

My nips were really sensitive to water in the shower during my first few weeks too. I found that a thick coating of lanolin while showering helped a ton.

Also I'm back to work full time now and the only time I get 3-4oz while pumping is when I pump during the day as replaced feedings. I pump first thing in the morning, and then 3 times during work day and I get a good amount then. But while I was home my breasts stayed pretty empty because she ate regularly so if I tried to pump between feedings I was lucky to get an oz. sounds normal!

Is this teething? by EyeAdlerin Mommit

[–]EyeAdler[S] 1 point2 points ago

I called them today, they said to give Tylenol for any fever but to bring her in if it got over 101. She's actually fine in the mornings and afternoons, the fever usually comes at night.

Weaning from a nipple shield - your experience please! by wherewithallin breastfeeding

[–]EyeAdler 0 points1 point ago

I used a shield when we came home from the hospital, and then at 2 weeks it started to get old. Luckily, she also went through a growth spurt around the same time and she was always super hungry and eager to eat. I would start a feed with the shield, and after let down I would take the shield off and she would latch back on and finish with no issue. Eventually I was able to get rid of it it completely.

Question for working mothers: when did you stop working during your pregnancy? by aliciajoannin BabyBumps

[–]EyeAdler 1 point2 points ago

I'm a nurse and I went to "desk duty" around 34 weeks due to vertigo from swelling, my only pregnancy complication. Then I decided last minute to stop work 1 week before my scheduled induction, so I went out at 38 weeks. I physically could have kept working, but I was huge and swollen and uncomfortable so I took off for my mental health :)
