An African American man enters a cinema through a segregated entrance, 1939 [2833x1951] by so_validin HistoryPorn

All discrimination is not equal, friend. While we can sit here and make the argument that homosexuals don't have equal rights, it is completely offensive to the truth to say that their plight is on an equal level.

I would suggest reading, Native Son or Black Like Me to get a good idea of how completely oppressive the Jim Crow south was in mid century America.

Tonight's Ben Swann to be 'epic'... by plajjerin ronpaul

[–]Exponential 10 points11 points ago

I really hope Ben Swann doesn't say that "rule 38" should be invoked. Rule 38 is only invoked when states bind 100% of their delegates. All the states have loopholes around rule 38 (superdelegates, etc).

Irish Catholic priests say they will not report confessions of child sexual abuse when revealed to them by parishioners in the confessional; under a proposed law, every person in Ireland is obliged to report suspected sexual abuse of children and vulnerable adults to police by mepperin worldnews

[–]Exponential 0 points1 point ago

You do realize that if you make it a requirement that priests divulge this type of information to the police, criminals will stop confessing their crimes altogether as they know they will be turned into the police. With the way it currently is, at the very least, the confessor is likely to tell the priest and the priest can encourage them to turn themselves in.

"People should not be allowed to wallow in ignorance."- The Grand Inquisitor

This argument doesn't boil down to "who is king of the world?". It boils down to, "Who is king of me?" I am. You are not. You have no moral authority to dictate what I may believe and think.

Furthermore, it's precisely because men cannot decide on what is truth and what is falsehood, that the only reasonable type of society is one that allows for the most freedom of thought and speech.

You're not getting what I'm saying. I'm saying it's a fact. And I'm in charge. Therefore, you are spreading lies about facts and you are going to prison.

I'm assuming you're an atheist. I'm Roman Catholic. You would be the first one I arrest for spreading lies and falsehoods.

Valve explicitly doesn't do marathon freakout downtothewire coding sessions.

Either way, read the PDF it's quite interesting.

ITS SHIT LIKE THIS, CHRISTIANS by Flashzachin atheism

I made this little animated gif which I thought you might find interesting. Someone elsewhere said that the picture of the arm on the dime was from a much older fetus.

Method: I went to the website for the endowment for human development and found the video of the fetus at 10 weeks. I screen capped it, put it into photoshop. I then reduced the center for bioethical reform's image to a size that made the dime roughly .75 inches on the scale provided by the endowment for human development. Rotated the picture to match up the arms.

Looks plausible to me.

[–]Exponential 0 points1 point ago

I have a problem with leaving well enough alone, so I made this little gif animation to see if the center for bioethical reform's photo was plausible or if it was just blatant misleading.

Here's what I came up with.

Looks completely reasonable to me. Perfect? No. But my method wasn't perfect. But I think it's close enough to say that it's entirely possible that the image of the arm came from a 10 week old fetus.

I apologize for judging you too quickly. There are many pro-life individuals who are ignorant about the facts. But, thankfully, truth is truth, even if an ignorant person can't articulate it.

Your understanding of abortion law is factually inaccurate. Abortion is legal, in many many states in The United States, through all 9 months of pregnancy. According to the Guttmacher Institute, "Although the vast majority of states restrict later-term abortions, many of these restrictions have been struck down. Most often, courts have voided the limitations because they do not contain a health exception; contain an unacceptably narrow health exception; or do not permit a physician to determine viability in each individual case, but rather rely on a rigid construct based on specific weeks of gestation or trimester" The Supreme Court case Roe V. Wade (1973) contended that abortions must be allowed if the pregnancy threatened "the life or the health" of the woman. The term, "health" has been liberally defined in many states to include instances of mental suffering or trauma. This is almost always decided upon by the doctor and the mother. The closer and closer you get to full term, the less likely a doctor is to give an abortion. So practically it is restricted, but legally, no.

Furthermore, your understanding about where and how the pictures were obtained is incorrect. These are all pictures of abortions that took place legally. The Center for Bio-ethical reform obtained access to the fetuses by paying an abortion clinic for the refuse. This was an extremely controversial move as many Christians felt that they were "paying for abortions."

Your assertions are based not even on personal experience, but complete conjecture alone. Being that I participated in the Genocide Awareness Project, I can say not only did we know where the pictures came from, but we also had LOTS of discussion with pro-choice individuals. The pictures and the protest FACILITATE discussion and thought. That's the point. Yes they're shocking. But a hell of a lot of people will come over and ask you about them for sure.

[–]Exponential -6 points-5 points ago

I read down the thread. The people saying things like, "Aborted fetuses look nothing like this fyi.." don't actually know the entire story. When I was in college about 10 years ago, I worked with the Genocide Awareness Project. They are extremely controversial with many pro-life groups, but not for reasons that you'd think. They actually paid an abortion clinic to have access to aborted fetuses. They have extensive documentation of not only this transaction but also the photographic process. This was and is extremely controversial within the pro-life community as many felt that paying an abortion provider for these pictures was tantamount to participation in the abortions themselves. So, yeah. They're real.

This is from an organization called the Genocide Awareness Project. They get accused of using fake pictures all the time. These are real pictures of abortions that have been vetted multiple times. Atheists like facts, right?
