Good Open Mics? by Ambediahin ChicagoStandUp

[–]Evil_Bebos 0 points1 point ago

I would just go check some out. Cole's is my favorite though. It is hard to get a good spot though. You have to get there early as shit.

Coles is definitely the best. Reggie Watts showed up last week, apparently. But because it is such a good open mic, it is hard to get a good spot and you have to wait around FOR FUCKING EVER. But, Cole's is definitely the best bar with an open mic, as most of the other bars are lame as shit. i can (and do) go to Cole's when there aren't open mics. Not true for the other bars.

Reddit, what would be your hell? by Kamigein AskReddit

[–]Evil_Bebos 0 points1 point ago

My vision of hell would be wandering around an office building/hospital trying to get doctors and insurance to communicate, while I am in dire need of meical help, but can't get any. All the while, Bon Jovi will be following me around playing Christmas music for all eternity.

That is hell.

Cool. I have been keeping a list. So if i look up a salary for my gig, and i find that average is 80k. What if they offer me 40k or something really low? Is it ok for me to push back and negotiate?

Can I say something about Chicago bike lanes and pedestrians, here? by chi_bike_throwawayin chicago

[–]Evil_Bebos 0 points1 point ago

Be careful in the kinzie bike lane. I got hit by a car turning left and he slammed into me. I haven't been able to ride to work in 2.5 months. It is not really a safe zone for bikes, but a significantly more safe zone.

Humbolt Park: I want the truth. by spindin chicago

[–]Evil_Bebos 1 point2 points ago

I ride a bike a lot (which i am going to be shitty and say "you should too!) and you should too! But I have been injured the past 2 months (due to a bike wreck...) so I have been on CTA. The Chicago bus, which is about 2 streets south of me, runs 24/7 and so does the western, which is about 2 streets east of me. Both of those streets go to the el, and are generally accessible from any part of the city, so you can really get anywhere at any time.

I love it. If you do move, stay east of the park. I like on augusta b/w california and western. It is kind of a grey area between uke village and humboldt, but it is awesome. There are tons of (other) hipsters in the neighborhood, and i live with a cute, tiny white girl who loves living there as well. There are awesome tacos, cheap booze, and mexican cokes in ever corner store. There are also solid bars and some good places to eat. I have lived here for a year and really like it.

But I don't go near the park at night. Or really much west of it at all.

I worked at Chick-Fil-A when i was 15. I had to sign a paper saying that my number one priority was to glorify the name of god.

Fuck that place.
