Are there any particularly good scenarios or complete conversions? I really need Fall from Heaven :(

Friend's office plant. He was told it was a fern, what is it really? by sporkafunkin species

[–]ErrantWhimsy 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, it is reminiscent of an Amaryllis. Watch out, we gave ours full sun and in 3 months it grew to three feet tall.

What kind of soil did you use, and from where? Is it actually controlling all of your nitrates?

I love the idea of this, and would definitely do it with my 10 gallon.

Like this? That is less expensive than I was expecting. I'm actually just in the Milwaukee area, so not far off at all.

What got you into detailing?

I drove through Joplin a few weeks after that tornado. It was surreal.

Wisconsin. I have seen those polishers that attach to power drills, how bad are those?

Yeah, darn my lack of friends with power tools. I'm seriously considering if I can ask a detail shop if they would trade lessons & supplies for time helping with other cars.

I was maybe 10 years old and he wouldn't stop begging for them. So I gave him just a few. The look on his face was pretty funny, I'll admit. He was fine, and is 14 years old now!

Thank you! I joined because my poor Toyota Echo used to be a rental car. If you saw it, you would either cry or be really excited for the challenge. I don't think there is an inch of paint left unswirled, scratches are everywhere along with little shopping cart dents. A little touch up paint and the big scratches aren't as much of a problem, but it is just in such rough shape.

I wash and wax it myself, and bought some polish from turtle wax that is supposed to get rid of swirls but turned out to be a joke. I wish I had found this subreddit before buying supplies! Thanks for the suggestions.

Charles Audubon, known for his beautiful paintings of birds, usually shot his subjects so he could get enough detail. There are nature centers and societies named after him

The tree hugging form of naturalist is very much a novel idea.

I have never done anything like this and I can tell the attention to detail that went into this was superb. What a fantastic job! I wish I knew how to do this for my own vehicle.

I just got a Canon Rebel t3i/600D with an 18-270mm f 3.5-5.6 lens. What accessories do you suggest for a beginner? by ErrantWhimsyin photography

[–]ErrantWhimsy[S] 0 points1 point ago

Fair enough, I do plan on getting that lens. But then what should I be using for wildlife in the $400 range? I likely won't ever be able to afford a $2000 lens.

Thanks! I'll make a few options and have people vote. I did not really think about how small the banner is up there. Do we want to make it larger to fit real photos? Otherwise I have a few ideas for patterns similar to twoxchromosomes.

Pick a handful of the most interesting, most clear photos you have. Preferably healthy, or at most a cast.
