Sugar: In Perspective by Beneficial2in Paleo

[–]Epitaxor 6 points7 points ago

A fructose/glucose breakdown would be more useful. Sugar cubes are pure sucrose, which is a mixture of 50% fructose and 50% glucose. This ratio may not apply to some of those foods, so the comparisons are not wholly accurate.

From a health perspective, fructose is far more insidious as it can only be processed in the liver, where it is mostly turned into fat. Unfortunately, the sweeter a food, the higher the fructose content. In contrast, the waffle probably has much more glucose.

Is Skyrim for PS3 really as F***ed as reports suggest? by monkbot1in PS3

Supposedly the way you play the game is a factor as well. Tidy up after yourself -- don't leave random stuff lying all over the place but collect and dump them on dead bodies, in compartments, etc. Also, don't leave doors open.

This should help keep the save game size to a minimum and free up more memory for the game elements.

If I recall correctly, the opening starts with you playing a regular dad having a typical day, which to me seems like a fresh approach to gaming. I'd probably enjoy that part.

I bought a new greatest hits version for $30. Not too worried about the cost, so much as the timesink.

That's what I'm worried about -- the overemphasis on QTE and the painful attempt at an american accent by european actors. It might drive me ballistic.

I do appreciate a great story though, so am still torn. As much as I loved UC2, the plot wasn't really memorable. I expect more of the same from UC3, and this time I will have to give multiplayer a pass.

I didn't play Arkham Asylum, so am not sure what to expect from AC, but the opening looked great and somewhat reminiscent of Half Life 2.

As I mentioned before, time is the key factor, less so the cost. I probably only have time for 1 game over the next few months. I bought HR for $30 new (greatest hits) and probably won't exchange it if opened.

Component or HDMI? by TACMONin PS3

HDMI is digital, Component is analog. Digital > Analog.

Would you spend $$$ on a USB cable? NO. The $4 HDMI cables from monoprice.com work superb.

I usually only play my games once, so the experience of that single playthrough is important. The only exception was UC2, where I got sucked into multiplayer and couldn't stop until reaching level 60.

I haven't opened it yet, but if I do, will be unlikely to exchange it. I still have my original Bioshock! I recall being fond of HR's demo, but the emphasis on QTE and the odd accent of the detective were unsettling.

Norway Stops Aid Payments To Greece by lusterin worldnews

So you screw a handful of investors. There's a lot of money out there.

A newly debt-free Greece will be quite attractive to investors because of their better growth prospects (weaker currency, cheaper labour, etc).

Within 3 years of their default in the 90s, Argentina had phenomenal growth.

Norway is pretty smart. Their assistance is currently supporting French and German banks, who are large holders of the bad Greek debt.

Greece will be fine in all of this. They will just string the EU along until they get favourable terms for debt extension. The EU can't allow Greece to default, as that will only hurt core banks.

Expect other countries to follow Norway.

No no no. The debt will stay in Euros, and will cost exorbitantly more to repay in devalued Drachmas. However, Greece will just NOT repay the debt thereby freeing themselves and screwing the EU bondholders.

Greece holds the EU hostage.
