TROPHY CASE

What do you hate the most about this modern world by solaybroin AskReddit

[–]EggSauce 0 points1 point ago

Honestly?

Well, I would say the disposable nature of our culture and the lack of history between a person and their possessions. Not a few short centuries before, people built structures and tools that were meant to last. People invested time into the things they build and the stuff they owned. A good example of this would be shoes. What do you usually do when your shoe gets worn down? Send it to a shoemaker, right? Nope. Just head on down to shoe store and pick up a new pair. It's that ability to say "here is a knife my grandfather used all of this life. It never left his side" which doesn't seem as possible. Try to find one thing in your life that would last you your lifetime and could be passed on for two more generations. It's difficult, I can't do it easily.

Now, this isn't necessarily a gripe against mass production. I realize that houses and malls are built cheap because nowadays it's easy to pick up and leave a store or a house. I realize that you are still able to purchase quality products for a higher price. This is more the bothering notion that the average joe of the current generations will have very little to pass down to later generations. Unless you count information gathered on the internet. That stuff lasts forever.

FROSTBITE 2.5 - What I would like to see :) by elitegamerbrosin battlefield3

[–]EggSauce 2 points3 points ago

Weather is nice and all, but I don't know why they didn't show off the destruction mechanics as much as they did with the single player.

I know what you're thinking: Eggsauce you fool! Of course there is destruction! Look at me blow up this wall!

Yes yes, but what I'm getting at is that they had an EARTHQUAKE happen during the campaign, which I would like to see make a comeback as part of a gamemode.

Like so: Something like a rush map, but instead of a set amount of tickets for the attackers, they are given a time limit. At the end of this time limit, a earth wrending earthquake happens and destruction starts to make its way down the map, starting a little ways away from the attacker base and slowly advancing. At this time, the attackers have a small amount of tickets (35?) with which to make a last ditch effort to push the point and get rid of the mcom. If they succeed, you slow the earthquake, the timer returns and your radio man says "Whew that was close! I hope there aren't any more aftershocks" and you continue playing.

Alternate ending: Defenders get to watch as the earth swallows up the enemies.

Of course, you would have to do the whole controller rumble, bit of brick falling thing for longer in a collapsing building, as it would only be fair to the occupants.

Hey dude, you forgot to mention that it's a total bonus if you can get an engi to sit in one of the passenger seats with a repair torch and actively repair your ride. Makes you basically invincible.

Reddit, if the world set out to create a new internet, what were some lessons we learned from this internet? by EggSaucein AskReddit

To be more to the point: are there any protocols, interactions between devices or ways of doing things that, while difficult to implement because the existing system is so ingrained, should be considered or used when starting a new internet?

Totalbiscuit on bad treatment of F2P players [Mailbox Dec 15] by zevzin tf2

I stand corrected then. I don't know why they haven't fixed this yet then.

Yah, but you know a glitch like that will be fixed within the next few days. There have been other games where an update will come out and it will take months to fix balance issues.

He missed an important point: TF2 fans have a made it a tradition to complain about how each new patch is world ending and game breaking. From what I gather, this isn't so much a legitimate grievance ( because Valve is VERY good about re balancing things so you'll only have to put up with it for about two days) it's more of a contest to see who can have the most outrageous reactions to the most benign changes.

I bet if they increased or decreased the percentage stat of any weapon by 3%, people would be all over that with "herewego.gif" and "tableflip.jpg".

Personally I find the overreaction kind of hilarious, and everyone should really take it with a grain of salt.

So why don't companies in China who make incoherent instruction manuals simply outsource that task to North America? by EggSaucein AskReddit

Let me clarify: I meant proofreading, not so much the actual production of the manuals.

If your university offered a course in 'MacGyver-ing' , would you take it? Would you consider that knowledge valuable/useful? by EggSaucein AskReddit

It's nice to have a conversation with a calm person over the internet. Thanks for giving me one of those simple joys in life. Cheers! :)

You're right, I meant can't. But yes, I suppose you can't really quantify what it takes to come up with a makeshift solution quickly. I suppose it would be like visiting an art gallery as an artist, you would broaden you horizons on how to paint/ sculpt things differently or see things from a different perspective, but if you're no good as an artist anyway, you'll just end up replicating what you've seen.
