Vince Cable a socialist, says No 10 adviser Beecroft by grumpyoldgitin ukpolitics

[–]E_mE 12 points13 points ago

Yes, Cable is a socialist when his background is in Shell, one of the largest examples of capitalism over humanity and ecology. But if he wants to use such stupid statements to make people point and shout "SOCIALIST", well he can waist his breath, I think most of us are aware of McCarthyism when we see it. If not, I suggest you briefly take a look.

Thats why the exam system isn't a good indicator of ability. Its tends to fail people who have to achieve there targets in slightly different ways.

You shouldn't need a bursary to attend a top school. Admission to the country's best institutions should be decided on merit, not the size of daddy's wallet.

I'd argue that the education system should contain zero elitist ideas, but that all schools teach good education as to let no one down. This includes focusing on other non-market related subjects (which the government is trying to move away from) and the individual needs of pupils, rather then being so adamant that everyone exists in the same bucket and level of progress. The education system let me down hugely because I didn't learn at the same phase as others and never got real attention for my dyslexia. This is by no means a sob story, but directly the fault of the previous Tory government, who shut down the support I started get.

Well education and the whole infrastructure of education has a lot to answer for. But then I'm inclined to see the current education system as being designed towards creating obedient workers rather then thinkers. But you point on who you blow, rather then what you know is also part of the problem too.

Man who is Blind, Deaf, Fed through a tube, Requiring 24 hour care is declared fit to work by DWP by ukbirdyin ukpolitics

Why does this not surprise me one bit. To think this is the start of such reforms I don't hold out much hope if the bureaucrats can't even stop this sort of bullshit slipping thru the net. this is a holy unjustified attack on disabled people from the start, way to go IDS. But I know someone is going to say "Oh, but there are loads of scroungers who are nicking our money blah blah" ... Clearly the percentage isn't high enough to justified taking £50/week away from the most needed in society.

You're not paying the mortgage are you? Your tenants are? Renters are paying your future asserts. Where is the fairness in that?

[–]E_mE -1 points0 points ago

I'm railing against the greed of house owners who only buy, rent or sell houses for profit. If you buy a house to live and be stable then thats more then fair enough. But to do it for greater gain with almost no effort, it's just selfish.

Because politicians are corrupt mother fuckers, especially Boris Johnson (Mayor of London). Seriously I do not know, its strange. I wouldn't be surprised if it was some private sector money grabbing tactic. I mean I could probably afford to paint 1 mile by 2 meter of blue line on the road and I'm not rich or anything. Plus the safety benefit is almost zero, the excuse they use is that drivers will be more aware that cyclists are present in the lane or some crap.

Long as the individuals with the money are okay, then thats alright then. But the rest of us are funding these landlords at the detriment of our own life's due to their greed.

Tuition Fees. New report argues 9k fees will result in "no overall deficit saving". by scousethrowawayin unitedkingdom

[–]E_mE 6 points7 points ago

Yeah that is very true and a tad more responsible. But it still is a large debt unfortunately. The average student after graduation will be 27K. I don't see how that sets anyone up for the future, especially if you want to buy a house or so.. We really should look at the German system in this case, they very small amounts and don't appears to be getting raped form it. There is something incredibly wrong/corrupt with capitalism in this country, its crumbling slowly since we apparently can't afford anything anymore.

Just need to look at the US student loan system and seeing its getting closer to crisis. Yay lets be like the Americans and increase student loan fees!

Why is it, that Britain is the only country in the whole of Europe where its actually expensive to study now. Where is the future vision of getting a well educated society.
